Jeff Okudah might be one of the best college corners I've seen.I wish the Titans could trade up enough to get him.

The way you talk there's zero need for a playoff at all. Let's just go ahead and crown LSU champions right now. /S.

You have to look beyond JUST the playoff itself. What about how it would benefit the college football season as a whole? Surely you realize that by making the 5 power conference winners automatic bids into the playoffs, it makes winning your conference that much more important, making the individual conference games that much more important. Making the college football season as a whole more exciting.

Also, college football is already exciting.

What changes vs what we got now?

LSU thrashes Memphis (1 vs 8)
Ohio State thrashes Baylor ( 2 vs 7)
Clemson would thrash Oregon ( 3 vs 6)
OU and Georgia would play for the opportunity to get curbstomped by LSU (UGA would get it 2nd time in 3 games and OU showed what happened yesterday).

Unless you can definitely say that the Pac 12 and Big 12 champs are equal to the other three champs, no one with a straight face can say they deserved to be there for the mere formality of winning their conference.

No, it proved that 4 teams ISN'T enough. Better teams were sitting at home when they could've been in the playoff, had it been expanded to 8 teams.

Yet the result wouldn’t have changed. 1-3 would have curbstomped any of the 4-10 teams.

This is kinda off topic but it does go to the Clemson-Ohio State game. Did anyone else pick up on the TV announcer say on national TV that Lebron James bought Beats headphones for the entire football team? Am I missing something here or isn't that an NCAA violation?

I heard it and wondered the same thing.. Along those line is NAVY using the Pat's plane to go bowling. It was stated that NAVY paid for the use of the plane and done at the same time as I saw the statement. They were making sure to cover the situation created by the use of the plane. Wonder how OSU can explain this "gift" away??

I agree, I don't like Ohio State. But they got some tough calls.

AND they had several "overlooked". As do most "good" pass protecting O-lines they hold on nearly every play. They just do it openly and seem to get away with it. (much like the KY basketball teams rebounding over the back on EVERY shot) The targeting play on the Clem QB had a much more grievous action by the player trying to twist and pull the QB's head off. Should have at least been two calls on the play. Or in my opinion, to disqualifications. But, as I have watch OSU over the years, they get away with this type of playing all the time.

- elite QBs win championships. Both LSU and Clemson’s QBs were lights out. Will HB be this kind of elite?

- would TN be the Clemson team we have seen over the past 5 years had we avoided the dysfunctional decade? How many names did you hear on Clemson’s roster tonight that would likely have been Vols had we picked the right coach the first time?

- was OK that bad or is LSU that good? Will we be able to score on that defense next year? Give them a fight next year?

- I would love to see LSU win it all but I still have a bad taste in my mouth about coach O telling our recruits to not attend class as he snuck off with Kiffin.

Just a few thoughts after watching the two games today? What say you?

1. Bailey being as elite as Burrow and Lawrence? (Still POed Butch let the latter end up in the wrong shade of Orange.) Who knows? Let's get his ass on campus first.

2. Had we picked the right coach the first time. The eternal question for which there is no answer. Had we gotten Lawrence, we might have gotten those names.

3. Both. OK was weakened by key suspensions, but LSU was every bit that good.

4. As to Coach O, that is so far in the rear view mirror, that is about like being mad at Lee for not letting Overstreet flank Meade, and sending Pickett's charge up the middle. Ancient history. Quit digging up that corpse.

My first thought was dang Butch!
Clemson QB idolizes Peyton and wears his number. Then this:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ti...nessees-best-recruits-headed-to-Clemson-15400

This year we clamped down pretty well on the state, but Ohio St Teague looks like unfortunate one that got away last year.

My thoughts are LSU is having a magical year, and will win it all...as they should. Losing QB and probably OC will have an impact next year on them. Clemson is best team to try and hang with LSU

Still pissed at Sherman though...

Tonight's Clemson win just shows to go, OSU should have never been #1 at any point in the season.

I don't like the OSU maggots either but in fairness, they got Tennessee-d. At least two calls were botched intentionally in my view. The fumble return for a TD and the targeting call on that Wade guy. I think they were both in the realm of the Bama-Vols game bogus calls. The refs were Tennessee-ing OSU in both cases. I dislike how OSU looks and smells but call the games fairly.

nah.... If they had an agenda they'd punish Clemson for knocking off their golden boys last year.
I didn't agree with calling back the fumble that got returned for a touchdown.

I did. They got that right, and I get to hear OS fans cry instead of crow.

On another point, there was ONE t-a-r-g-e-t-i-n-g call. How many times did Fowler and Herbstreit say that word the rest of the night?

Probably did it under the shelter of bowl gifts.

Sec officials are terrible. Nice to see the rest of the country getting to enjoy them for a change.

So Memphis would hang with LSU? Baylor would compete with Ohio State? Oregon with Clemson for 4 quarters?

The top 3 teams are miles ahead of the rest of the top 10. Stevie Wonder even sees that.

Who said anything about Memphis? They dont play in a power 5 conference.

As for Baylor/Ohio State and and Oregon/Clemson, hell yes I would love to see those games! It would not be out of the realm of possibility at all for an upset to happen in one of those.

Expanded playoffs would result in guaranteeing the highest ranked G5 school a playoff spot. That would undoubtedly by the 8 seed.

And it doesn’t matter if you “want to see” those games. I’d like to see Tennessee vs Bama again but guess what, ain’t happening.

At the end of the day, the committee got it right and the 4 team playoff was perfect. The 4 seed did not matter. Whoever got it was always gonna get blown out by LSU. Just happened to UGA, we saw Ou’s death yesterday, and Oregon would go down same path.

I think it would make the regular season less interesting. Why play any OOC games, especially against quality opponents?
Would there be any reason for strengthening your conference top to bottom, ACC model will become the norm

No it wouldn't. The 3 at larges would be based on team ranking. The playoff teams this year would have been...

LSU
Clemson
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Oregon
Georgia
Florida
Baylor

That's a hell of an 8 team playoff and would result in some really good games.

It’s amazing how football games don’t always play out on the field the way folks predict on paper. That’s the best part.
