CFN's Harbach predicts Vols for 1st in SEC east for 2011

Personally, I feel losing Culliver is a good thing for us. He was way too much of a liability for us last year. He is the one that got burnt by yalls receivers every other play this past season. Also, Stephon Gilmore needs to step up a bit. He didn't exactly have a spectacular year for us on D last year. I'd say our D line willbe tested early and often. Perhaps they can rise to the challenge.

On O, it depends on QB play and the O-line yet again. Our line did a decent job of protecting SG last year, but they will need to do a better job this year for us to get back to ATL.

I'm really like DarthVisor, a rival who comes in and talks football as opposed to trogres (hybrid troll and orge). Kind of reminds me of the classy Duck fans we had last season. NegaVols, take note of the example of how to be a class act.

Darth, clearly SCe has their problems but don't sell them short. Your coach may be a visor wearing, headphone throwing, smart ass but he's also a wily strategist. Opponents who dismiss his teams as walkovers of the week do so at their own peril.

My understanding is you have a couple of good receivers and Garcia, if he can stay out of trouble has improved a great deal and may be set to be a rather dangerous SEC QB. So while I believe my Vols will win the SEC-East, I also think your fighting roosters will seriously contend.

I agree. I like reading rival posters who know what they are talking about. They can add info and sometimes prospective. Keep it coming.:hi:

"Tennessee has locked up the SEC East, Beating Kentucky for the 27th straight year, 42-0!"

Can't wait for football season.

If all else fails, we can at least count on that one win. Especially now.

I mean, they had us on the ropes last season, made one turnover, and quit.

Thanks. I enjoy talking about college sports, and VN is a heckuva place to do it. Freak has a great thing here.

Spurrier appears to be rejuvenated, which is good for is. He is really excited about how we are starting to turn top in-state talent to SC.

As far as Garcia, he may not be our starter come fall. CSS is very excited about Connor Shaw, a soon to be Sophomore. I imagine he would like SG to be our guy in the fall, but he has made it clear to Shaw will have a shot. Garcia has given us Gamecock fans all hope, because we have seen what he can do (Bama game this past year). Personally, I'm cautiously optimistic, because I have seen the bad things he can do, which has been more than the good he has done (FSU, UK, Auburn SEC CG, etc.). I have hope that he can do great things for us this year, but I would not be surprised with an 8-4 season. Our schedule is not easy. @MSU, off week, @UT, @Arkansas, UF...ouch.

We may go 6-6, but I will say this right now...the Barn will NOT leave Williams-Brice with a win. Those cheating bastages are going down.

that's good news---I'll start making plans for Atlanta in December---some top quality clubs in Midtown and Buckhead with some decent quality chicks.

I believe we have a great shot at taking the East this year...Georgia and SCe will be the other contenders...I just can't see Muschamps 1st team being good enough to contend...I will absolutely SAVOR the ass-whiping we put on Florida this year

As alot have already stated, they have as good a chance as anyone to win the east. I personally believe S.Carolina is the favorite as they have the most returning starters to go w/ an impressive recruiting class.....

early word from the florida spring camp is that the offense is struggling early on learning all the new terminology and so forth. there will not be much depth on the offensive line this year.

on the defensive side, they have a chance to be really, really, really good. there are two players in ronald powell and chris martin that fit into muschamp's hybrid d-end, linebacker role and look to be very good pass rushers.

don't overlook florida as there is a lot of talent on that roster.

south carolina should be the favorite.

I told my friend we have a shot at winning the East the other day. He laughed at me. Hoping we prove him wrong!

I think it's wide open this year given the coaching change and offensive problems at Florida. The tough thing for you is your schedule.

That's not how I remember it. I remember them gaining momentum fast, and me feeling that we were letting it slip away after three straight incomplete passes.

Our defense was dead tired, and the Kensucky players were feeling big...when...Dooley faked that punt.

It was brilliant, and in my opinion it won the game for us. That victory #26 over the Mildcats belongs to Derek Dooley, imo.

If they hadn't have had that fumble inside the 10 they would have blown us away. That was the beginning of the end for them.

I don't think so. It was still early in the game, and they really had no answer for Bray and the WR's. We were just a little slow out of the gate.

This isn't Florida or Bama we're talking about here. It's Kentucky, and they did what they do best. That's find a way to lose to us. :p

Finally playing Florida early plays more to our advantage for a change.

it's been to tennessee's "advantage" on numerous occasions.

tennessee just didn't win on a few of them.

can't tell me it wasn't to tennessee's advantage to play florida early in say.....1993, 1997 or 2002.

how about if florida played tennessee in november in 2008 when florida was putting up 50 ppg and tennessee couldn't beat wyoming.

i really think some of the things that are stuck in a fan base's head eventually filter to the players themselves. i know that may sound a little crazy, but i think that's the case.

i think a lot of the "advantage" stuff is overblown about the timing of a game unless there are injuries. play better, coach better, you win.

No, but he is definitely liking the Dool-Aid. In all honesty, we have as good a shot as anyone of winning the east, but is there a chance we would be playing LSU for a second time in the SECCG again?

Yes, there is. Only this time, it would be our turn to pull the huge upset.
