17. Tennessee 3-1
Last Game: W, Akron 47-26
Why The Ranking Should Be Higher: When the going gets tough, the passing game gets going. The Volunteers had their hands full on Saturday night, but eventually pulled away on the strength of Tyler Bray’s right arm. The junior threw for four touchdowns and more than 400 yards, getting plenty of help on the ground from RB Rajion Neal.
Why The Ranking Should Be Lower: Ranked teams don’t get pushed into the fourth quarter at home versus mid-level MAC teams. Where’s the pass rush? Tennessee has produced just two sacks in three games with FBS opponents.

CFN has UGA at #2.

If somehow TN wins saturday, I'd say TN makes it back into the AP and USAtoday polls, and may be up near the Top 10 in CFN.

Getting the W saturday is no small task though.

We should not be ranked in any poll until we prove something against a big time team. Potential is not the same as results.

I totally agree! I think we "can" win this weekend, but probably won't. Then again, I felt just the opposite going into the Florida game. Here's to hoping I'm wrong this week also.

right now on the upcoming for games, I would rank them Miss. St., South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama for easiest to beat to hardest.

I agree this is a lot of undeserved love from CFN - But TN is still 3-1. The next four games will show what kind of team TN has. Win 2 out of 4 and it could be a pretty good season.

I agree with this list. The Miss State game is crucial for this season. TN gets a bye week before traveling to State so need to get that W regardless of what happens in Athens Saturday.

We will be Miss St's first real test of the season...they have Alabama and LSU the latter part of the season...we truly do not know how good they really are...

In confused.....everone is saying that UGA is overrated and due to lose. So, if we beat them we should be elevated back to overrated top 25 status.

This fanbase is schizo.

It seems like the ball has to "bounce our way" in a few of these October games. Been watching football long enough to know were due some crazy turnovers or some other miscuses by the opponet that favor TN. The last couple of years we've been going into October severly under-manned due to injuries. The Team is pretty health this season, so Im expecting some competitive games.

We'd be 4-1 at that point - of course we'd be back in the top 25. What do you not get about that?

If UF upsets LSU to go to 5-0 i think TN's record looks much better and TN flies up the rankings with a win over UGA.

If we beat UGA, we will be ranked. However, we don't belong in any top 25 poll right now.

How good are we? 17th in country is too high, our defense isn't settled in yet with an offense that takes little time off the clock even when we do score. The next 4 games will tell us for sure if we've made strides to get back in the hunt. One thing that I'm sure of though is that Florida is better than preseason predictions. It still sucks we folded like a cheap chair when the crap hit the fan, but we lost to a very talented Florida team with a good game plan. We can beat some of the better teams if our running game can take some pressure off the defense with time eating drives that get 7 points. Personally I think we beat MS and hang with Georgia and Bama at home. Spurrier has USC clicking and I believe that's the one game that could turn into a blow out. JMO

What doesn't make any sense is stating that Georgia is untested and underrated but somehow beating them make us worthy of being ranked.

They aren't, and we won't however.

Why do people think that we could "hang" with Bama? Really?

Did you see the LSU at Auburn game? My 2 cents are.

Hated rival at home. Over confident Bama team. The Orange Football Gods still owe me for the 1990 Bama game.
