CFN: Tennessee Volunteers Preview 2016

Sorry.... I know this will upset some of you. But I cannot count any 2016 scenario that includes another home loss to UF as a success.... Yep... I said ANY scenario.

It is long past time for that BS to cease. If Jones can't take THIS team and beat THAT team.... then he doesn't deserve support unless the goal is to be the perennial bridesmaid.

I'm pretty numb to Florida losses that date all the way back my elementary school days. I'll be thrilled if we win this year but will be neither surprised nor upset if we lose again this year. And if we go 10-2/12-2 I'll be one happy little Vol fan, even if Florida and Bama wind up on the right side of the ledger.

Doesn't upset me. I know it's an emotional response.

Florida is only a big deal because of the streak and the dominance of their program over ours. That goes back to when the great Peyton Manning played here and arguably our most acomplished coach in the modern era. If those two and a bunch of other stars didn't lose to Florida all the time the streak would be a lot smaller.

Perennial bridesmaid sounds like how you might categorize Manning's carreer. SEC east runner up for most of his time here, never beat Florida and finished second in the Heisman to a defensive player. :hi:

Also, while were assuming talent levels with this current roster in comparison to Florida we know for sure what we had during those years I mentioned. All stars, future NFL hall of famers, all pros and stars at every level. I'd also mention Spurrier was playing golf and still outcoaching the Vols.

The bitter part is losing to a bad Florida team. They only won 4 games one year and we were one of them, unacceptable. Last year's win over us was used as a spring board to the early success they enjoyed(short lived).

There is a bigger picture(NC), but ending some streaks is a big part of it.

I like what I've seen in 2016.

Jump higher Vols.

Once again, it doesn't matter who we lose to...as long as we win the NC. Even Florida. Otherwise, I'm with you. The end result though is more important than the means we used to get there.

This dude has the most back-handed style of writing I've ever seen. Some of the stuff he says makes think he needs to be slapped across the face with some sort of fish. Then he ignores most of the stuff he said and predicts an 11-1 record and makes me think he might be somewhat mentally challenged.

Yeah it was kind of a weird article imo. He obviously is one of those guys who thought the defense was good and the offense allowed OU and UF to get back in the game. I disagree and obviously Butch does too since he fired his long time friend and hired Bob Shoop. I still can't believe we got Shoop!

Honestly.... It is a big deal to me because I hate UF. I hate their arrogance. I hate that stupid Gator chomp. I could give you a long list... of mostly irrational reasons why I hate them.... but I just hate them.

There is no path to winning a NC without beating Bama or UF or both. UF... is the lower hanging fruit.

I doubt seriously there's a path to the SEC Championship that doesn't include a win over at least one of them.... and probably UF. If they beat UT this year then UT would have to hope that the Vols can beat Bama and UGA then have UF lose to two of 3 vs Ark, LSU, and UGA. UT pretty much has to beat UF to win the SEC.... and to me it would be "cheapened" if UT won it and let UF take the streak to 12.

Well, you can get to the SEC CG with as many as 3 conference losses. We know that, because it's been done. That's one heck of an ugly way to roll into Atlanta, but it is possible.

So yes, we could lose to Florida, and Bama, and even a third team, and still conceivably get there. But who the heck wants that?

Let's just whup em all, on the way to Atlanta, and then while we're there, too. :)

beating FL is a must in my book. cause even w/a lost to UGA the following week, we have opportunities to still make it thru with just one or two losses. UGA will still have games against FL, Auburn, and while i don't think Ole Miss will be as good as 2015, they do have to go to Oxford the week before we roll in to Athens.

GA's schedule is a lot easier than ours. if we lose to FL, then automatically the UGA game is a must win.

I'll bump this one more time and see if anyone takes the time to read the first few pages of this thread.
