Intersting that we're getting some love from CFN - they have Vols ranked 21st...

CFN 2011 Rankings
Sept. 12, Week 2

21. Tennessee 2-0
Last Week: W, Cincinnati 45-23
Why The Ranking Should Be Higher: The time has come to start taking the Volunteers more seriously in the SEC East. They throttled Cincinnati for a second straight win behind four touchdown passes and a career-high 405 yards through the air from sophomore QB Tyler Bray.
Why The Ranking Should Be Lower: Although strides have been made on defense, Tennessee won’t be confused with Alabama anytime soon. The Vols yielded 396 yards on Saturday afternoon, including 155 yards on the ground to Bearcats RB Isaiah Pead.

I know it's ONLY CFN, but some love in the Top 25 is better than none, IMO. The bottom line of course is beating Florida if we want to get respect, so we'll see where we really stand next week.

If UT beats UF, things will really begin to get interesting.

True - the Coaches Poll has UT ranked 32nd (21 votes) and Florida is ranked 17th. I would think winning that game would put us around 20th. Again, not putting the cart before the horse, but winning that game on CBS would be HUGE in putting the Vols back on the national map (not to mention position in the SEC East)

IMHO - Rankings and respect aside, if we're able to beat the Gators it will be a true measure of what Dooley and Co. have done to change the culture and skill level of UT Football in just 2 seasons.

Agreed. If CDD can roll in the Swamp with a young team and defeat the Gators, it would really propel the confidence and momentum of this team. It won't be easy, but for the first time in a long time I feel like UT has a shot.

shoot if we can beat FL, we CAN beat LSU and SC for that matter!!! Bama is still another yr away i think..they got too many deep threats and weapons to use against us..but interesting things have happened at the bama game..it was 2009 and many thought bama would CRUSH us, and yet they ONLY scored 4 FG the WHOLE game!! Had it not been for the blocked FG on our end we would have WON that game!!! then of course last yr they massacred us 41-10. I hope this yr its a close tight game!!!

We beat Florida, bye week, then beat Buffalo, we will be ranked in the to 25, for the first time since pre-season 2008. That was a # 18 ranking.

It will be tough to ignore UT if we beat FL. I think they have a better team than most on this board believes and it will be the first road game for many of our players. In fact, Bray has never played a game out of the state of TN. I believe he can handle it, but who knows?

I think we lose to florida--sad to say, as they beat us practically every year--and come back to reality. Will not be able to run the ball, passing game will come down a notch or two against better personnel, and the defense simply does not hold up in the swamp. Hope I'm wrong.

Really? I have never heard the coaches say anything negative about Fugate.

I dont think that he had a bad week, just that Bartholemew had a better week.

When asked about Fugate, if he had an injury or disipline issue that had Bartholemew starting in the FB spot, Dooley said "Its Darwinism".

Dooley didn't say anything negative about Fugate. In his post-game presser, he said Bartholomew just had a better week of practice.

Sorry I know this is off topic but I'm a new member so I can't start my own thread and I'm not sure where to post this but does anyone have a link of a replay of the game ? I'm from Canada so I can't use espn3 they don't allow it for some reason. Thanks in advance

I don't care where we are ranked - in the SEC if you win you will get where you need to be in the rankings

Sign up for a free ATT e-mail account, then use that account info to sign in to ESPN3. Use a zip code far away from TN to avoid blackout games.
If you are blocked because of your country still, then google for a free IP masking via VPN. Load it on your PC and your physical location will be hidden from the blocks. :good!::good!:

When the Vols embarass the Gata's in the Swamp, Vols go to Top 15.
