CFN: Bray in Who's Hot Top 10

Can we not just enjoy the success that Bray just had for 5 minutes without all of the Negative Nancies criticizing him to death? This is the first time in a long time that we've had something to be excited about and some people want to start tearing him down already. We know it was Memphis and they suck ass, but for God's sake give him some credit. Even the national news is recognizing him and his performance. It's really sad that some fans can never be satisfied.

In an effort to save utgibbs some time: "He would have thrown 8 touchdown passes in the first quarter if Fulmer had been his coach."

Seriously, for the first time in what seems like an eternity, we have something to be excited about in Bray, the young wide receivers, and an OL that is getting beat up but is getting valuable experience.

I agree. He slid around and bought time then delivered strikes again and again and again.

And to be honest, I'll take Tennessee's chances on jump balls to Justin Hunter

This, that one, I swear Tyler threw it @ a 75 degree angle. JHunter is a FREAK.

So far, Tyler Bray has looked like a great freshman qb. He has made some beautiful throws. He actually looks off receivers, pump-fakes, steps back up and/or sideways in the pocket to avoid the rush and, if those weren't enough, has one of the quickest releases seen at Tennessee, including PM. He has made some off-time throws, too. The throw over the middle into the endzone, IIRC to Da'Rick, would have been an int. if the safety had just turned around. He also put a bit too much emphasis on getting it to the guy he had picked out at that particular time. Didn't he throw it to Stocker 3 times in a row(2 incompletes before he finally got it to him)? And then telling G Jones he would get it to him for a TD. Don't get me wrong, I loved the idea of getting everyone some love, but that is one of those youth things he will get out of his system, Throw it to the guy that is gonna be the best/safest gain. But put all of his minutes together, not including last night, and he has played a grand total of maybe a little over one game. Give him a break as far as the criticism goes. He is getting a little bit too much media attention from one outing against Memphis, but let 'em go ahead and lay it on thick. We need to know if he can handle the spotlight now. And the media doting on Dooley playing all these true freshman, including the qb, can't hurt come NSD.

Hunter made a "go get it catch" right before half was just a foot out of the end zone. He has skills to be a great one.:good!::clapping:

I was saying today if he could have gotten a foot in bounds, that would have been a Sportscenter play of the day highlight. He will be a great one.

Serious question, not bashing.

I missed the first half (parents are visiting and my dad just doesn't move too fast anymore - couldn't get out of the restaurant), and I know it was big. BUT, what I saw in the 2nd half from Bray was wholly unimpressive - I don't recall any completions (I'm sure I'm forgetting 1 or 2), and I saw a lot of grossly overthrown or underthrown balls - like the one to Neal on the wheel route, or the one out of the back of the endzone to Hunter. Someone posted here or on GVX that 3 of the TDs would have been picks against a good secondary. So was he really that awesome or did we just have some good luck against a horrible team?

I'm not being negative - would be thrilled to see Bray or Simms play lights out. I'm just concerned there's maybe a little over-euphorianism (yes, that's a word, at least for this post).

UT scored 10 points in the third quarter...Memphis scored 0. I believe Simms was in for the field goal. The fourth quarter was left for reserve work. What's not to like?
