I know there have been some posts about odds of making the playoffs floating around, but I haven't seen a post about championship odds. It doesn't meany anything, but I thought it was interesting to consider. During the lean years, most of us just wanted to be in the hunt in November and we are.

Interesting they have Texas at 40-1. They aren’t that good.

But they are still alive for 2 things. The SEC title as they only have 1 loss and a schedule that if they win, they will vault up. I don't expect them to sweep Vandy, Georgia, and A&M, but I think they are getting odds because of the opportunity to face those top ranked teams and what winning those could do.

Playing in the SEC Title game isn't going to help Texas win a national title (they won't make it).

They're just hanging on.

I’m sorry. I’m still not sold on Indiana as a title contender until they consistently beat elite teams. Texas Tech is also not a contender. I know Vandy has had a solid season, but don’t think they are a title contender. I think 5-6 above us are very long shots, but TBH, so are we.

I am one of those people and I am 1000% okay with "being in the hunt in November." The past fifteen years have been the worst stretch in Tennessee history, and I sat through too many of those miserable games in Neyland to ever take right now for granted.

I cannot oversell how incredibly satisfying it is to watch Heupel's offense continue to look competent, game after game. Sure we have our problems, yes we have problem areas, but the competent-to-exceptional passing game and the rushing attack and its results are wonderful things. Seeing Tennessee be at or near the top of the offensive production charts year after year fills a hole in my heart. I just love having an offensive staff that clearly knows how to put guys in a position to make plays.

How is Texas Tech 12/1? They are now on their 3rd string QB!

Yes, how easily we forget the lean times and how quickly expectations change to meet the current equilibrium

GT at 75/1 seems really low for a team that is undefeated and has a playmaker like Haynes King. Of course the caveat is that they probably aren't even a .500 team without King, but he's been pretty unstoppable thus far. God help us if we actually make the playoffs and have to face them at any point. He'll put up 500 yards of offense on this defense.
