CFB Playoff Rankings 11/11

Considering that the Vols lost all 3 big games this season, it's a moot point. Even if they miraculously got into the CFP, the Vols wouldn't win the Natty and would have a good chance of losing badly again.

I'd rather enjoy a fun bowl game where we can expect to be competitive, even if a bunch of players opt out.
We lost badly because we played the team clearly better than everyone else.

What would need to happen for Tennessee to get in the CFP?

I know, I know it’s not happening, but I’m curious as to what all would need to take place for this to occur…

Let me caveat this by saying we arent a playoff team. For us to have a chance to make it though.

1. Win out and look impressive doing so. 28-27 wins arent going to cut it.

2. Get to 4th in SEC pecking order. We need A&M, UGA, and Bama to win out. If that happens, fake UT has 4 losses. OU would need to lose to Mizzou or LSU (Bama would be their 3rd loss) to get to a 4th loss. 3 loss fake UT or OU woulf have a far superior resume to us so they need a 4th loss. Ole Miss would need to lose at home to UF and at MSU. At best we are 50/50 to be ranked above Ole Miss if both are 9-3. We'd be ahead of a 3 loss Mizzou or Vandy.

3. Hope for chaos. Need ND to lose again. Need no other 2 loss Big 10 teams other than the Big 3. Need Texas Tech to be only rep from Big 12 (BYU lose again). If enough chaos happens, slight chance 5th in SEC pecking order gets us in...

Controlled both uga & ou. And still found a way to lose. Ugh! Could be sitting in the top 6 right now.
Incredibly frustrating. Given our only loss would’ve been to Bama on the road, we’d be skipping Atlanta and most likely have a home CFP game if we take care of business against UF and Vandy. That’s a great place to be .

Miami is screwed 😂

Even the playoff predictor is only giving them a 14% chance to get in if they win out.

An immediate expansion to 32 teams. I jest. 16 and no losses works too.

Anybody see the strength of schedules for these teams... Any guess who the Top 7 Strength of Schedules belong to... I'll give you a hint, they're all in the same conference. Greg Sankey is a moron for adding a 9th SEC game! The SEC is in need of new leadership.

Why is there a thread on this? The hapless OU debacle sealed it.

Focus on building and recruiting and CJH not coaching in the fetal position.

Great Clemson won now just need many more upsets. Duke needs to beat Virginia.
We need absolute chaos. Again. Is it likely, no. But anything can happen. Like someone said 9-25 is interchangeable. Virginia’s QB is back I believe tomorrow but ACC is a one bid league now. Gotta hope the same for the Big 12.

What’s funny is our team this year would beat the brakes off of last year’s team- and that team had a damn good D and made the playoffs (and if not for a seeding screw job might have even made some real noise).

We are getting better - much better in fact - our talent next season - with the class we have coming in - is going to be the best one yet in the blooming CJH era (except we are going to have to be patient/limited at QB - and then in ‘27 we will be loaded for bear…
I’m not saying this year’s team wouldn’t beat 2024 but we had 2 guys who were first rounders (Pearce and McCoy) last year on defense that was 🔝 10 in the country.

And we also had a much better running game but worse receivers/QB oh the 2024 team. I’d probably favor this group but it would be an interesting game 😆

Last years defensive line works the 2025 offensive line. Joey would get hurt....
Last years corners are not a cakewalk either...

3 really stand out to me.

1) Iowa at 21. C'mon man
2) Georgia Tech at 18. They're a one loss team, likely a two loss after UGA, but I'll be rootin' for the Jackets Nov 28!
3) TX at 10. They're a fraud and everybody knows it. Hoping the Aggies steam roll them on the 28th!

Texas may be the biggest fraud of the 3 listed. I expect UGA to end their playoff hopes. Just think - they are Ohio State best win.

I'm not a fan of the male cheerleader team either.
