People gloss over or underestimate his family ties to UF and the state of Florida. From Monte’s roots in Tampa, to Layla’s deep ties to UF. No idea what happens but Lane is choice #1 for most Florida fans, with Lincoln Riley gaining a lot of steam mainly because he hates everything about LA, USC and their conference.

Beyond those two you get into the Drink/Fisch tier.
Jaws,

Seems like Riley’s stock has come down, from my point of view.

Kinda felt he went out west, to avoid going into the SEC with Oklahoma.

I think he’s done a better job at USC than many realize. He’s 6-2 right now and 32-16 overall. That’s not elite but it’s also not horrible. Maybe more importantly to UF fans, he once again has a top 5 offense in the country. Also, I’m not sure why he left OU, maybe just wanted a new scene, but I don’t think it was because he was “scared of the SEC,” I just don’t buy that. But the most amazing thing about him that people forget, OU was an absolute machine under him. He was 55-10 there. The man can coach.

Kiffin looked down during his time at USC, as well.

Thanks for taking the time.

Is there a direct quote or report or interview you can direct me to, and not some twitter fan acting like he has insider heat. And I have no real skin in the game here, I don’t care much either way, it’s just the whole “he’s scared” narrative seems very message board’ish. Also, if he were to take the UF job, or LSU, would it then mean he’s suddenly not scared of the SEC? I mean, taking the job sorta answers that mystery, no?

I think the USC job has lost a lot of luster since the Reggie Bush Matt Leinert days. They’ve got the Dodgers on a dynasty run, the Lakers, Rams playing very well, etc etc etc. Not much energy out there for College football anymore.

I’ve put some energy in a potential Lincoln Riley hire, but the chances of that are slim. I’m not even sure UF is vetting him. I do know they are vetting and targeting Lane Kiffin and he is choice #1, and it will be a very public faceplant if Lane turns them down.

If he leaves Oxford he’s a bigger fool than I think he is.

Frankly I don’t see how that’s possible.

The simple key to drawing a crowd in LA is to simply win.

All the phonies who don't know a halfback from a nickelback flock to be "seen"

Riley has done "ok" at USC but he hasn't sent the world on fire by a long shot.

As you somewhat state, LA is a Dodgers town anyway. Only team that draws a crowd whether they are winning or losing.

Attendance for everyone else is largely dependent on how the team is doing. I suppose that alone is not that rare. We didn't even sell out most games in our walk through the wilderness. The LA teams in general though, it is much more noticeable than in most places

What? No odds on Heupel to Penn St and Kiffin to the Vols?
Theres a part of me that wants to play your game and wishes we would 1. fire Heupel and 2. Hire Kiffen.

I'd be a winner either way and you boneheads would finally stfu. But Im not the idiot some think I am. Lol.

*I spelt it with an e to trigger his biggest fans.
