Cecil Does Not Mention An Offer From Tennessee

I developed a theory on this when it was first mentioned that TN offered him money. Thinking back to TN's recruitment of Cam, it seemed to end rather abruptly. We were hot on him and then all of a sudden we go with Simms instead. It was stated that it was because of his disciplinary problems and being suspended the 1st half when coaches went to see him play. But I got to thinking and maybe, just maybe, we dropped him and went with Simms not because of discipline or Simms being a pro-style qb but that Cecil asked for money. So the staff shut it down. Could be right, could be wrong. We'll never know. Just a thought.

He might have been against it, but Orgeron sure wasn't. Orgeron's system at Ole Miss of paying a third-party that had no relation to Ole Miss and then them giving the money to the recruit was genius. The NCAA could not track it. Ole Miss boosters loved how he recruited just didn't love how he coached.

supposedly he paid the player through a local attorney, thus the attorney client privilege was in effect.

Thank God. A very reliable and I mean, very reliable, source has stated that for all his issues Lane was 100% against paying players. I believe him. All this garbage about Tennessee offering Scam Newton 200K is bull imo.

Was he against it when he hung out at Reggie Bush's beach house a few years back? Just sayin. He either knew, or didn't want to know about all that action.

What's mississippi state's record with Cam this past year I wonder. I'd say 9-3

An agent paying a player for representation rights in the future is not the same as your preacher dad shopping you to the highest bidding school.

I seem to recall seeing an interview with Kiffin on televsion or something - and him saying something to the effect of we didn't even offer Newton a scholarship, because he didn't think Newton's skill set was a good fit for his (Kiffin's) offense.

And Kiffin went on to say, sarcastically, that (not offering Newton a scholarship) sure did make him look smart, didn't it?

I think we still had Coleman, Nick Stephens, and that Laimison guy at that time, and went on to sign Bray and Simms.

So, when the NCAA shows up to talk to Kiffin about stuff he did while at UT, if what we speculate is true, he can then say "Hey, if you leave me alone I'll sign an affidavit stating that the Newton's wanted money." Might be a good tool for him to use if that is the case.

Funny that in the tape c calls his son a mule. A mule comes from a male jackass.

Keep it in context guys, in Newnan, Georgia, it's a term of endearment.

I was responding to a comment a poster made about Kiffin being 100% against paying players, when Kiffin either knew Reggie was getting cash or turned his ear when told about it.

Now we all know why Kiffin didn't really pursue Scam Newton. I know at one point, some of us wondering why Kiffin wasn't looking at the Jr. College player in Texas.

We were after him, he visited, and we suddenly stopped...i know he couldn't draw up plays and that had something to do with it, but I always wondered if a money request turned us off of him as well...

So you're saying a mule is the product of immaculate conception from the male of the species?

It really doesn't make a difference to me. Cecil was shopping his kid for $ and anyone with half a brain believes Cam knew about it. And I don't have to have proof to believe it.

I saw an interview from kiffin before the whole tennessee paying newton came out stating that he never offered newton because he didnt fit into his type of offense, but he felt like he was an idiot for not offering him.

i believe that if kiffen new paying newton would have made tennessee an sec champ or ncaa champ while he was coach he would have put his wife to work on the strip to help get some of the money,he shruged his shoulders at minor violations like he lost a game of reach around with orgeron,he would do anything he thinks he can get by with and he will do same at usc ,and being a private school and not a state school he will continue his mentor pete carrol,s recruiting practices until another reggie bush situation, which is much easier in southern california to get by with things .can anyone say OJ.until all coaches get long suspenions or banned for years they will be illegal recruiting practices.bruce pearl got 8 games from sec no telling how many ncaa will give.while jim calhoune only gets 3 game suspension.and anyone who believes that cam newton didn,t discuss everything that would affect him are foolish.it wasn,t like cam was a 17 year old who didn,t pay attention.it will come out that cam and auburn knew and auburn will have to give up or forfiet its bcs tital and scam newton will lose his hiesman trophy.and the nfl will have to at some point start fineing players like bush and newton or taking away their signing bonus.i think that is the main reason he is going to nfl that and cam and cecil love money.i hope the owners win the part of the cba pertaining to unproven players getting enough money to be set for life,if they flop

You do realize the school wasn't paying Bush don't you?

That means Kiffin, Carrol, Orgeron etc was not paying Bush.

A third party not directly involved with the school was.

That means Kiffin can still be 100% against paying players because he was not paying the player.

lol...I'm not implying UT or Auburn offered $ to Cecil. I'm saying I believe Cam knew his dad was shopping him, and that is why he should have been suspended. I have no proof OJ did it either, but I believe he did.

I can buy they part about Lane, but not about AU not paying him. They have a long and storied history of paying players. Why else would anyone go to AU?:ermm:
