"I think he really was less concerned about making the right cut and more concerned about running and getting your pads down and hitting it," Dooley said. "There were about four or five times where a week ago he would have put the brakes on looking for a move and he just put his pads down and got another four or five yards. That adds up over a course of the game. That's what I told him."

I think Poole is an excellent young man and that he is a max effort guy. I do not believe he has the ability that you need at RB to win in the SEC. I think he is a class act all the way, but we need an upgrade in that department. I am also not sold on Lane as the answer. I do believe that Lane can be the man, but he needs to get much, much stronger. I dearly wish that we could land a guy such as a Dyer, Crowell, or Lattimore.

I believe you need two backs, both that do something a little different. They don't have that right now. Really though all they need out of the running game right now is to keep people honest, it doesn't have to be spectacular, just solid. Poole is good enough to get that done.

I am expecting a big game from Poole against Florida. Didn't he have all his biggest games against the toughest competition last year?

All these guys are Over Rated... Poole is averaging 100 yards per game... Stop complaining about our RBs.. He's not flashy.. So what.. He's Solid and he's not going to get in trouble.. If you want to be concerned about anything be concerned about the holes that our offensive line IS NOT MAKING!! Chris Johnson couldn't even squeeze through there..

Poole has the talent, what he needed early on was good coaching. He didn't get that in his first couple of years but now he's at the point where he will be our blue-collar every down runner that keeps drives going.

If he runs for 100 on Saturday and doesn't put any on the groud I will be happy with him.

Lane will develop into the perfect compliment to Poole soon.

I wouldn't agree with you but I could at least think of arguments to be made about the first two listed, but what in the hell have you seen from Lattimore to make you think he's overrated? As the announcer correctly pointed out on Saturday, his only real strike against him is the lack of elite, top end speed but I'd still take him over just about anybody else out there right now.

I think Poole is the better runner. Just the fact he keeps the ball and Lane has put some on the ground. we will need to control turn overs in the swamp if we have a chance to win.

Lattimore is carrying that team right now. He gets stronger as the game goes on and would excel regardless of where he played. I love Poole and think he is also a high quality SEC caliber back who will have a chance to play on Sundays, but Lattimore is special.

sjt18 is going to show up later and own this thread, as always...

Nope... I'm tired of this for awhile. Rex has seen the objective data. If he wants to deny it... I don't have the time or energy right now to fool with him. FWIW though... I really liked Dyer as a recruit but am not that impressed with what he's done so far. The other two I'd love to have.

WOW! The nerve of some of you! Other backs over Poole who gives us his all EVERYTIME HE PUTS ON A UNIFORM. Please! Poole- love him! Why? Because he's all VOL. Lattimore had his chance to come to UT, SAW Poole, went to USCjr. Same with Dyer. If you guys like them so much and hate Poole so much, please, by all means BECOME SOUTH CAROLINA AND AUBURN fans! i like the next love recruits who list UT as a possible destination, but once they choose another school all love is lost. i love those who choose to attend, represent, and play their hearts out for The Univesity of TENNESSEE! there is no other way to explain it!

I almost spit out my coffee. That is absurd. Lattimore is elite. Poole is solid. Elite trumps solid.

That being said.. Do you really think a so called "elite" running back could run behind our line?? I don't... Not when he touches the ball and has a DT and a DE waiting for him..

Lane certainly looked strong enough to me when he pulled 4 cincinnati defenders about 5 yards. Not sure where you got the assumption he wasn't strong.

saying a player is better than a UT player has nothing to do with hate. Not every player that suits up for UT is the best in the country at his position

So let me get this straight...

You agree that Lattimore is an Elite back and better than Poole but he wouldn't do a better job running behind our line?

I'm confused.
