gel

but anyways, I don't think there is any way Cuonzo leaves
well it would be stupid to anyways... Marquette is not nearly as appealing as tennessee

jell
jel
verb

1. (of jelly or a similar substance) set or become firmer.
"the stew is jelling"
synonyms: set, stiffen, solidify, thicken, harden;
2. (of a project or idea) take a definite shape; begin to work well. "everything seemed to jell for the magazine"
synonyms: take shape, fall into place, come together, take form, work out

Gel is not correct. It's just a pet-peeve word of mine. :)

But yes, I agree with your statement. With Tennessee on somewhat of an upswing, we do seem more appealing. But we have to show that on the recruiting trail to get other elites to come as well.

exactly. When things go south next year, fans will jump back off the Cuonzo train just as quickly as they jumped on it the past few weeks.

The reason most were down on CCM was because of the talent this year. Next year expectations wont be as high. The rest were down. on him because they worship Auburns coach.

Are we going to be able to attract a decent coach if CCM leaves?

Seems like this job might be viewed as somewhat toxic.

How many people that keep repeating how bad things are going to be next year really, really hope things are bad next year?

Why? Because we had 36,000 "fans" petition to fire a Coach winning 20 games a year? Haha I'd stay WAYYY away if I was a college coach. Those are lofty, lofty goals for a program not that far removed from buzz ball and sub .500 seasons.

Revisionist history. Petition was started when it looked like we were going to miss the tournament. The fans weren't petitioning to fire Zo, because most of them thought he was already going to get fired. It is a nuance, and it doesn't make it seem much better, but it is slightly different from a petition to fire a coach.

And yet the petition starts by saying it is not a petition to fire Coach Martin - but if there ever is a change - they want the other guy to be considered.

Personally, I try to stay WAYYYY far away from those million dollar plus a year jobs like this one. All in all - this is a pretty good gig imo.

And yet, according to WR info this morning, that exact petition is being used against UT in recruiting and is hurting it even more. Also, apparently some boosters are no longer allowing BB coaches to use their private jets for recruiting.

WTF?

I'm afraid Cuonzo is gone and we're going to get seriously screwed on hiring a new coach.

There has been some speculation that due to the difficult nature of this season--on a lot of fronts--that Martin might look to leave for another job if he could get involved somewhere. We do not think that was just idle talk, however, given the way things have worked out to this point, it seems like it's going to be difficult for Martin to walk away from the payday that looks to be headed his way.

Way to go Hart

If CCM does leave and we get a coach that is terrible while CCM succeeds somewhere else.... our fan base will deserve it. Complaining before when he wasn't doing good is understandable (not me but I can't argue after a certian point) but complaining today right before we play for a spot on the Elite Eight is just flat out stupid.

Some of you are just getting ready for the impending break up like none of its your fault. Say a girl dumps you.... "I don't care, you's ugly anyways, shoot"

Here's another....

Hey you see those kids over there. Their grandpa and dad built this business from the ground up and they go around bossing everyone as if they walked in those shoes. They have a major sense of entitlement that will come back and bite them. If they had patience enough not to criticize someone too soon they may be able to do their job and everyone will be happy.

Yeah. Perception is all that counts with negative recruiting. This petition looks bad, but it isn't exactly as cut and dry as "Fahr Zo Hahr Pearl. Not that it makes a difference, but it is more nuanced than that.

And the private jet thing is a bit shocking. I wonder when this was all taking place, and if the policy has changed at all since we made it to the sweet 16.

After his current recruiting class here, I would run as well. I am not trying to be disrespectful but Martin will never be hotter. He has done a very good job getting the team to jell at the right time, but frankly he is a mediocre coach and his stock has pretty much peaked, so do you sell or hold?

And if he bolts because of the treatment some of you idiots gave him and his family, who the **** do you think would come here???????

Oh I understand what you are saying. It is perception tho.

Not sure on the private jet timing. Just passed along the info.
