So we have won only 4 games on CBS since 2010. I knew we never did well when Gary was calling our games but I didn’t realize it was that bad geez. Our last victory on CBS ironically enough was against Georgia on Oct. 1, 2016 the Dobb nail boot Hail Mary win.
Not surprising. CBS record reflects our over all record. Also, we've not really been the destination team...CBS didn't televise our games because we were good, they televised our games because the other team was good, and we were justifiably good enough to put on TV compared to the other games that day.

It really isn't all that surprising imo. We've been struggling for over 10 years, and almost all of our CBS games are against Bama, Florida, or Georgia.
What would be a national audience draw for a Tennessee vs Vandy game? One team has to be good to make it a national game. Something like a ranking or playoff berth has to be on the line for interest.

I don't think we'd see that match-up on CBS even if we were undefeated and ranked number 1. Unless Vandy was having a historic season. Like you said, no national draw there normally.

Your information is off by just a tad. The Vols played and beat Missouri on CBS on November 19, 2016.

That game was UT’s last victory on CBS.

I was going to chime in, but you beat me to it.

We have actually won 5 CBS games since 2010:

Georgia '15 and '16
Florida '16
Ole Miss '10
Missouri '16

The Ole Miss game was a CBS game, but for whatever reason it was at noon, or so my research a few weeks ago told me.

EDIT: Not sure how/why I replied to myself here. I'm a few hefty craft beers in tonight, so that could actually answer both the how and the why. Lol

EDIT take 2: Recognized the "why." I added the fact that our boys in Orange are 5-21 since 2010 on CBS, which is depressing, and I wish I didn't know it.

Anyway, gentlemen, let's have some tonight, and hope that we drink from the keg of victory tomorrow!

CBS chooses to broadcast games based on interest relative to other events. They want eyeballs and ad buys. Tennessee vs that Saturday’s opponent is the best bet some weeks. Objectively, put yourself in CBS programmers shoes. Why choose Georgia @ Tennessee? What other SEC game is a competitive option? TAMU @ Ol’ Miss? Make arguments for both options. This thread will become a better read.

While it may be warranted, Georgia has a really good team, I can’t listen to Danielson telling me how great the dawgs are for 3 hours.
GBO!!
