CBS thinks Chip Kelly...

It's because of his prolific offense, which was actually quite simple when I researched it some! He uses hand signals instead of check offs. So, all a receiver or back has to do is remember a few hand signals and you can run a fast-paced high-octane offense. The only problem with that is that the opposing DC's have figured him out and once you've been outed, you have to adapt. He hasn't shown that he has the capability to adapt, yet.

His offense doesn't work in the NFL but he didn't have a capable QB in San Fran. He's proven that his offense works in college. Are you trying to argue otherwise?

60 million is the number that Jimbo Fisher gave LSU, which they turned down. It provides a glimpse of what top coaches expect in the SEC. We can also look at Tom Herman, a good resume but no where close to Chip Kelly's, TX just signed him to a guaranteed 25 million. Chip Kelly will get somewhere between that and my guess is aTm or UCLA will pay it this year or next.

San Francisco owes him around 30 million, hes going to want to collect that. If he takes another job then San Francisco would subtract what they owe him from his buyout. So if his buyout is 30 million paid over 6 years thats 5 million per year. So if he takes another Job that pays him 5 million a year then that cancels out what they would owe him. So you could pay him 2.5 a year and force San Francisco to pay his other 2.5 and if after 5 years it doesn't work out, dont renew.

like steve spurrier, chip's simple offense doesn't work in the nfl with fast, physical DBs and LBs and D coordinators who study film 20 hours per day. In college, it can still work with the right talent.

"1. Tennessee: Listen, Butch Jones has done a magnificent job of leading Tennessee to multiple life championships, but at some point, you have to wonder if Tennessee will become more interested in division, conference, and possibly even national titles."

Can't say I'd be opposed to seeing Kelly's offense at UT after what we've had to suffer through lately. Ain't no Kelly offense going to lose to Vandy or SC and especially not to both. I like Butch, but I'd have to vote for Kelly. Long-suffering Vol fans deserve this sort of upgrade.

I want us to score record breaking numbers like anyone. However, seeing how did that in the 2016 season, I'm not sure how much we've been "suffering". Those two games were lost by the defense, not the offense.

If true, that is very interesting! He could be butthurt at San Francisco and take a job for 1 million dollars a year just to make them have to pay it back. I saw an article talking about how Kelly liked Prescott in the early rounds, but the GM wouldn't allow him to draft him. Probably just click bait but still, you never know.

No because if he gets the right players for his scheme, he can put up huge numbers at the Collegiate level and he has proven that. All I'm saying is you know every College DC he faces will be watching NFL defenses play his offenses and finding ways to beat his system just like they beat it in the NFL. If he goes to a mid-major college, his O should still work because his competition will be sub-par. If he comes to the SEC, they will shut him down (Unless he Alters his strategy), Imo. And Colin Kaepernick was very capable of running his offense, by the way. JMO

I would take him as OC. Toss out a line and see if he bites.
I dont know that a former show cause is death. Bruce Pearl is landing big recruits at auburn.

Out at you calling Colin Kaepernick capable. He's one of the worst QBs in the league and he doesn't know how to read a defense. He has a long throwing motion and takes off running when option 1 isn't open. He's by far a better offensive mind than Butch and Debord and they didn't seem to have trouble scoring in most games. College coaches had film on Spurrier, Saban, and Pete Carroll from their NFL days and that didn't seem to help much

Me know you imposter, original witch doctor passed on. Me say you "which doctor". :bs: :stop: Nothing like the original, so just stop it dude.

I posted yesterday how glad I was to see WD back, and wondered where he had been. If what you are saying is true,(not doubting you) then we lost a good "voice" Would love to know who he really was and where he was located. Really enjoyed his perspective and the lighthearted and witty way he presented them.

If Tennessee had the full backing of Nike, I'm sure we would be a powerhouse in all sports. Money talks and we don't have anyone giving us money like Nike does for Oregon. Phil Knight will not let Oregon stay down very long.

Oregon, outside of Kelly and a few years with Bellotti has been a very mediocre program

I'm sorry, but I disagree. Well, I agree with Kelly being on our Sidelines, but only as OC, not HC. To me, CBJ just seems like a Tennessee boy (With an accent) at heart. The passion he exudes & the emotion he shows After big Victories, wins me over! Now if we go .500 next year, the Good Ol' Boy's gotta go. We had 260 pound defensive tackles playing a quarter of the season, so I have given CBJ a pass on our successful 9-4 season. It really doesn't matter, we'll know all we need to know by the end of next season.

Don't be sorry. It's OK to disagree.
I'm never more than half right.
My other half is left.

Tennessee boy lost to the two bottom feeders in the SEC East and ruined what would've actually been a successful season

Friday Five: Which college football job Chip Kelly should take right now - CBSSports.com

Looks like they think Tennessee is the place he should go. Obviously we don't have an opening but thought it was interesting

Who wants Chip Kelly? He is a good coach but obviously (pro) players don't like him. And the college kids just went to Oregon for the uni's and I'm sure was scared of him as young adults and of course not allowed to criticize him. He seems a little shady to me. He would probably bail in a heartbeat if things went bad. He would be a good OC in the NFL or he can just stay on the west coast......

Fornelli acknowledges that it is not entirely fair to hold a 9-4 record this season due to the number of injuries against Butch, but then says that UT should consider Kelly because some wonder if Butch is the right guy for the job.

LOL! Makes perfect sense.

Sure from above you can't hold injuries against Butch... However, with all the injuries, we still lost 2 games due to coaching Malpractice in Vandy and USC. Injuries had nothing to do with losing those games... I will also say that OT Coaching against the aggies was lackluster as well.

He had a show cause. But some would risk the future of the program just to say "hey looked who we hired".

His show cause was totally overblown.... And we wouldn't be risking our program by taking him.... He is a big name coach and would be automatically the second best coach in the league.

Career assistant at New Hampshire before that. Irrelevant?
