CBS thinks Chip Kelly...

IF chip comes to UT he will demand huge money, at least $6 million plus a boatload of benefits. He may be worth it.

Zero chance. There will probably be a lot of open jobs next year, and he'll be a candidate everywhere. UCLA seems to make the most sense

"1. Tennessee: Listen, Butch Jones has done a magnificent job of leading Tennessee to multiple life championships, but at some point, you have to wonder if Tennessee will become more interested in division, conference, and possibly even national titles."

Can't say I'd be opposed to seeing Kelly's offense at UT after what we've had to suffer through lately. Ain't no Kelly offense going to lose to Vandy or SC and especially not to both. I like Butch, but I'd have to vote for Kelly. Long-suffering Vol fans deserve this sort of upgrade.

This is so embarrassing. At least it should be, but Butch has tripled-down on what may be the dumbest statement uttered by a coach in a generation.

Kelly hates recruiting. Has a know-it-all personality. Sounds perfect for PeytonPlace.

Shows you how ignorant CBS is about Tennessee football in general. Really think they're gonna go $30 mil in the hole, AT LEAST, to hire Chip Kelly? NO CHANCE.

What's really embarassing is the goofy way so many take issue with it and post their displeasure at coachspeak.

Nah...they just good for laughs.

Even in a best case scenario, this would never happen. The UT Administration would guarantee that.

No as a head coach

I know some feel coaches who were good in college and failures in 2 stops in the NFL are still a great fit for their university. But Kelly wrecked both the Eagles and the Niners in epic fashion. I am not thrilled with the idea of bringing him in. And since somebody from CBS is suggesting it scares me more.

Just to be clear, his show clause has expired... any college is free to hire him as a coach.

You are saying UT has learned some hard lessons... I am not so sure... but would hope Kelly is not in consideration for any position at UT.

Because you like being mediocre in football? Chip Kelly could take Tennessee to the promise land. I would throw the bank at him.

His record in the NFL is irrelevant. The man went to 4 BCS bowls in 4 years at Oregon. He'd run the East for the next decade

FFS are you still crying over this? It's also been the most overblown statement in a generation. Give it a break cupcake.

Just answer me this. Why are ya'll so fired up for a man that doesn't like recruiting? You're already whining over an 11th ranked class. Sheesh!!!

When LSU went after Jimbo Fisher, one of the few active coaches with a national championship win, he told them he would go there for 6 million a year for 10 years guaranteed. LSU smartly turned that down because being on the hook for $60,000,000 is insane. Chip Kelly will request something similar. 5 million for 5 years at least. The University would be on the hook for paying the rest of Butch's buyout plus Kelly's new contract. Then what if the unthinkable happens and the "can't miss" hire turns into Rich Rod at Michigan or Charlie Strong at Texas or any of the other "can't misses" that busted?

5 schools in front of Tennessee have 20 or less commits. Tennessee has 26 (Bama at 1 and aTm at 8 have the same number).

Hell Clemson only has 13 and is one spot behind the Vols.

He can surround himself with recruiters

But won't his standoffishness deter recruits. If he don't wanna interact with them won't that be a sign he don't care if they come or go. You see all the time where recruits talk about their relationship with their recruiter. Some decommit cause that coach left. I just don't understand it all :ermm:
