What was his reasoning for leaving Bama for aTm? I don't recall. What I remember is the a$$-whoopin they put on UT in '02. He seemed to have Bama on the right track. Was it the 'AA? I know Bama was on probation in '03.

He was like Tom Herman. Loved coaching in Texas. Left TCU in great shape for Patterson. Would probably never have left the current version. A&M opened the checkbook I don't think Franchione was escaping anything at Bama.
