I am a fan of the CBS sports page and it's coverage of NCAABB and I am not looking to start a "bash the media" thread but damn they are soft on UT BB. Their new ranking has us at 5 with Kstate and Alabama ahead (even after the Bama loss and Kstate going 3 and 2 in last 5). When we lost to Kentucky they stated "UT got exposed against Kentucky". Yes we lost. My definition of "exposed" may vary from theirs but I always took it too mean a team was never as good as perceived. Seems odd that a 7 point loss to a rival full of future pro players is classified as being "exposed" while a near 30 point loss to unranked Oklahoma does not drop you from the number 2 spot. Yeah, I know, it will all work out and who cares but still.

Who is writing their articles? That may explain why. Feldman? Parrish?

Cmon guys, be smarter, and I’m not just talking to you OP I’ve seen a lot of these takes in recent days…if every bracket and polls and talking head had the exact same ranking of teams 1-10 who would read them? Who would click the link knowing what the ranking is? Who would start threads on message boards? This is all about clicks, everyone puts their own twist on rankings with their own reasoning to drum up interest…come the last week or two of the year everyone will align as then it becomes a race to see who can be closest to correct with the bracket the committee releases.

I get it. But over time these "experts" give up credibility. I have watched the CBS page's infatuation with UCLA, Uconn, Kansas, et al but the one consistency seems to be the underanking of UT. Not seeing a conspiracy just wondering what they see or don't see in UT.

As long as they’re getting clicks they don’t really care about credibility

I don't think Kansas State should be ahead of us, but aside from that, you could probably mix Alabama, Houston, and Tennessee around in the 2-4 slots and have a defensible answer every time. I think we're a lock to be #3 or better in the polls today anyway, so Gary's opinion doesn't hold much weight.

Parrish has moved on from local radio to work with Grind City Media, but I listened to him for many years. I think the national perception is that our offense can have a really bad night that could lose games. I didn't consider Parrish homerish because he would tell Memphis people why Memphis' resume wasn't very good. Early in the basketball season, he explained why he never considered ranking Memphis. His two big metrics are KenPom and the quad records based on the NET.

Now, Goodman is a little different story. He and Pat Forde do seem to have something against UT.

That is just their recap of last weeks top 25. That is not their current rankings.

Not even February. Don't give a chit. We take care of our schedule and the rankings will work themselves out. No offense to the OP.

Thank you, did not realize this because under the caption for each team it mentions their last games.. And because it was posted less than 2 hours ago making me think it was updated.

We don't really know how good UT is. We won't know until after the Bama and Ky rematch.

I am still reluctant to pronounce UT as a top 3 until our inconsistent offensive play is eliminated. Hopefully, within two weeks we
all will be more certain as to how good UT really is.

I COMPLETELY agree TNBV! I think they are bogus in their rankings. Glad I'm not alone.

Yes, if Fox News just reported rainbows and sunshine; no one would watch.

I just want to see how we fare down the stretch...10 games...Bama, 2X Auburn, FL, Vandy, SC, TaM, Ark, KY, Miz...not the easiest of stretches, but think we'll do fine. Such a hard thing to do, but peaking too early isn't ideal...think we're starting to hit our stride and think we'll be either on the 1 or 2 line come tourney time...both of which, in theory helps our odds.

CBS Top 25 and 1 has had Tennessee 2-10 spots behind their average AP/Coaches Poll/Net ranking every single week. It's so jokey that I stopped looking at it almost a month ago. Sounds like nothing has changed. No logic or fairness in their rankings. Seems like nothing more than one persons opinion.

Don't give them clicks. Their poll doesn't matter in any way, to anyone.
