CBS Passes on UT-UA and go with UF-UK instead

the sec needs to get a new station to carry the games .cbs STINKS.
Lincoln Financil has a better telecast anyway.

Everybody KNOWS the Tennessee/Bama game will be close. It always is.

Why the heck would you want to cover Kentucky being routed by Florida? Maybe they think Bama's going to lose to Ole Miss this weekend...I dunno.

If Alabama, and Tennessee win this weekend, the UT-Bama game will be on CBS, or ESPN one.

If you are under 40, Bama-UTK is not that big a deal. Television programmers want to target the younger demographic.

Arky St. is PPV...understandable

BUT....

Miss St is PPV now...this is a good SEC game and nobody wants to televise it?

Lafayette isn't even PPV now...

And to top it off...there's a rumor that the third Saturday in October might not even be aired this year...

A possible 1/3 of our games will not be televised this year?

In the words of the great Vince Lombardi...

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AROUND HERE?"

CBS wants to wait on the outcome of Kentucky v. LSU before making it's pick.

Chance UK beats LSU... 0%

therefore

Chance UK v. UF beats out UT v. UA... 0%

LSU will destroy UK, esp if Miles will take the reins off of Perriloux (sp?)

Verne Lundquist would be miserable in Knoxville all day, not getting to watch the Boy Wonder play.

CBS has the worse sportscasters in all television. I'd rather listen to Granny Clampett's non-sense all day than to them.

Why would a network want to attract a young audience with no disposable income for advertisers to target?

Miss State: PPV in Tennessee and ESPN Gameplan out of state.

Bama: If Kenturcky beats LSU, probably on Lincoln Financial (the three Dave's are the worst broadcast team in the business). Otherwise, CBS at 3:30.

The problem is that the Laugheyette game will not be televised at all (not even PPV) unless UT agrees to move the game time. The powers that be have already said they will not disrupt Homecoming Activities and change the game time. Thoughts?

I would rather the game be on ESPN than CBS anyway.

ESPN does a much better job of promoting and reporting on their own televised games, creating more of a buzz around the rest of the country and helping with recruiting.

The blackout thing is laughable. Why would they carry the game outside the states of miss. and tenn. They have figured out a way of ripping everyone off. Greed has taken over the world. If we don't win a sec championship soon. All of our games may end up costing us 30.00 to watch.

Older viewers already have most everything they want and are more interested in saving for retirement than spending.

Younger viewers want all those "priceless" mastercard moments and will buy things even if they can't afford them, putting more money into the advertisers pockets.

You are correct for the 55+ crowd, but I'm mainly talking about 35-55 year olds vs. 35 and under.

CBS = HD
Lincoln Financial = Bunny Ears

I agree that I don not like the CBS announcers.

Florida and Kentucky are both ranked higher then UT and Alabama. Seems like a no brainer. They always go with the higher ranked teams.

The decision is based on star power, plain and simple. Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin playing against "Heisman Hopeful" Woodson and up and coming Kentucky is a sexier matchup than 3-2 UT vs rebuilding Bama. The SEC fanbase is going to watch whichever game they televise. Fans in the rest of the country are more likely to tune in to watch Superman play Cinderella.

Think of it this way--if it were a Big XII game, would you, as an SEC fan, be more likely to watch Oklahoma v. Missouri, or Nebraska v. K-State?
