Anybody else getting sick of CBS rolling out ice skating commentator Verne Lundquist to slaughter the play by play for CBS?

Listening to him and Danielson for 3 hours was all that I can take. Verne doesn't know the difference between a field goal and an extra point. I really believe he has a hard time following the game.

Gary Danielson made a comment using the words,"bing, bang, bong" and Verne commented that it sounds like something that happens late at night on a college campus. That was actually kind of funny.

After 2 years of listening to tony kornholer on mnf, i'm almost immune to bad commentating.

yeah they are horrible. you know, they have a place to complain about them on the site. I have been very tempted to drop a few lines to them but figured I would leave it alone, their gator loving selves will get slapped back into reality very soon

Verne Lundquist is pretty good when he calls the Masters every spring, but not as great for football. Danielson is well informed, and knows what he's talking about, but his man crush on Tebow is beyond rediculous. At one point in the 4th quarter they were talking about how Dennis Rogan broke Kevin Prince's jaw at the end of the UCLA game last week, and Danielson came in with some stupid comment like "Haha, I'm sure they'll have a lot harder time breaking Tim Tebow's jaw." Pretty sure Tebow's jaw is made of bone just like the rest of us. On the other hand, it's not like Danielson is the only announcer who's on air affection for Tebow is a little over the top, that's become pretty universal these past few years.

It's better than whoever was doing the UCLA-Kansas State game last night. Also better than anything Jesse Palmer will ever do.

I dunno... I kinda like both Verne and Gary, even if Verne messes up a name or seven.

I think someone spoke to them about the Tebow stuff. It was actually dialed down last night. The last couple of years it was like they were reading out of a romantic novel or something.

I disagree completely, I think Verne is still enjoyable and Gary Danielson is a fantastic analyst. There were several times that he predicted exactly what was going to happen on a play before it happened. I very much appreciate his commentary.

I really feel like ripping on the announcers is a passtime around here, no matter who it is. There doesn't seem to be anybody that you guys don't pile on consistantly.

I agree.. really liked the commenting yesterday. Hard to bash them too much on names though considering college player turnover and they may call just one or two games for a specific team a year.

I really like it for no other reason than it was BLAND. Look at it this way can you imagine that it was broadcast on ESPN and sitting and listening to The kind of crap they would be putting forth. As it was you could discern that Verne was kinda pulling for us or at least for a close game, with the oh knows or watch outs and their you go's.

I enjoy them as well. We actually commented on this at the party we had for the game.

I live outside the area now and tried listening over the internet, but live streaming is one play behind what is on TV.

Verne doesn't know the difference between a field goal and an extra point. He's old and time to move on. Really suprised people like those two.

That was a poor broadcast. You could almost sense they hated their setup to blast Kiffin did not happen.

The camera work was really bad, too. There were several times they were using a camera angle that was only on one player (Tebow, Crompton, etc.) after the play started and had to quickly switch to the wider view.

There were several times they had Gary and Verne on camera... same thing happened.

I like to see what formations the various teams are in before the play is snapped. Anyone else?

Watching the Titans game and listening to Mike Keith on the radio instead of the tv coverage, I often wonder if things would have turned out different, how it would be like if Mike was calling the University games instead...he has such passion for the game!

Living in Memphis, that is one of the things I look forward to for my football weekends. Got to the UT game Saturday and then listen to Mike on the way home Sunday. :good!:

Ron Franklin is very good. I also like listening to Todd Blackledge.

I would love this pairing. I think Blackledge is one of the best in the business right now.

The CBS crew sucks from top to bottom. damn can be good at times but VL drags the broadcast down the tubes.

I hate CBS. When I watch a game it feels like a Tebow, Meyer, Saban lovefest no matter who is playing. I seriously think Verne has a man crush on Tebow

Mute the TV and listen to Bob Kesling and Tim Priest.

My earliest memories of UT football were watching them on a muted TV while listening to John Ward with my grandfather... didn't really get it at the time but what I would give to be able to do that now
