CBS-Bold prediction -- CBJ out before november

This! Barring something really bad off the field (or 3-9'ish on the field) there's no way Butch doesn't finish the season.

I've mentioned several times that UT's best bet is for Butch to figure it out and get this thing going. If the admin does make a change down the road, I hope they have a plan in place...which is something they've lacked in the past.
In the aftermath of the AD hire, it certainly seems like it is ultimately up to one individual to decide when to pull the trigger and who the new sheriff will be. Does that person have a plan or is he/she open to Currie's influence, assuming Currie has a plan?

Coaches being fired prior to November 1st is really not as common as the writer makes it sound with the stupid October being the new December line. He only cites Les Miles which was a unique situation. Hell, even a no brainer firing like Dooley made it to November.
I think there's a school of thought that a few programs might be more willing to be quick on the trigger this season in the hopes of landing Chip Kelley or Bob Stoops.

Could be our "mediocrity" will rise further toward the top as others fall over the "fire the coach" cliff.

Maybe you can give a real world example of a mediocre coach who became a championship coach because everyone else was intolerant of mediocre their mediocre coaches?

I've got $5 he says "McElwain".

The new recruiting rules may turn out to be a disaster. When player and recruiting losses occur with a coaching change, there won't be much opportunity to rebuild a depleted roster because the limits are strictly by year and not how many open scholarships remain. The schools that fire coaches until it gets sorted out may be placing themselves at a big disadvantage. The flip side is that players who would leave may find no place to go, but disgruntled players don't make for a good team - at least that's what we've Hurd through the grapevine.

Or... coaches that are kept will deplete the roster to a point where when he finally is fired the roster is so far gone that it takes years to fix.

This rule will make it even more critical to NOT WAIT until a mediocre coach starts hurting recruiting.

His buy out is 2 mil a year. If we fire him after February 28th, it goes down to six million.

So after the recruiting class? They won't spect a thing...media definitely won't speculate.

What is Jones payout if he leaves on his own. I saw an older article that said 4 mil. Is that still correct?

If you can't see the difference between a Herbstreit "bold prediction" (to use just one reasonable example) and this guy's outrageous guesses, then I can't help you.

Sure, crazy stuff happens. Good analysts find the nuggets of knowledge that allow them a reasonable chance at predicting a few of those crazy things. This guy doesn't have that feel at all. And, by his own admission, he's apparently not very good at it.

p.s. Since you seem to think this writer might actually not be full of bull, let's do this: I'm gonna make a "bold prediction" right now that this guy gets at least four of these five predictions dead wrong. I would say all five, but there's a lot of fudge-room in his #3 about the Bama freshman (like, how does he define "steady part"?). If he gets any of the other four predictions right, I'll learn the Gator fight song (assuming there is one) and type all the lyrics into a post here on VolNation. If he gets all four of them wrong, you get to hand-type all the lyrics to Rocky Top into a post for us here. Deal?

Odds are actually against you, odds are good one of those coaches is gone. Also, how is it possible anyone who follows college football doesn't know who Cam Akers is? Serious question. He will replace Cook and his numbers will be look good in that offense. You will know him by November.

I hope Akers does extremely well, James Cook is already wavering in his commitment and that would push him elsewhere.

The CBS dude didn't say "one" coach is gone. He said five. Five Power 5 conference coaches, by the end of October.

I'm not at all worried about that prediction.

As for following teenage boys in the recruiting forum here or on ESPN's recruiting pages, just never appealed to me. Always seemed a bit creepy, actually. I follow college football, not high school boys. If the kid's good, I'll learn about him while he's playing the college game.

Sometimes bold is bold. Sometimes bold is just stupid crap. This is the latter.

either way. it's far from saying "this is GOING to happen".

it's even further away from finding ways for it TO happen.

it would take an epic meltdown for it happen this year before November. and while im fairly pessimistic overall on this upcoming season...epic meltdown is not on the horizon as far as i can tell.

You seem to be isolating on Butch and Tennessee. I was talking about all five of this guy's predictions, only one of which includes Butch, and then as just one of the six coaches named.

yes, i am, i couldn't care less about the other 4.:)

We always get one of these articles whenever our momentum starts to pick up on the recruiting trail. It's like they are trying to intentionally create a negative cloud over the program to deter recruits.

My opinion is that a mod should have dropped the mic and locked the thread after TNnative's post (#2).

Just read the article and thought I'd share... had no idea about the writer. Just wanted to get thoughts of fellow volunteers...
I actually like your idea about the call centers... just might do that one of these days.. lol..

Bud, if you do that, just make sure it gets covered by the international media. If you get arrested, it won't take too long for people in at least 15 or 20 countries to send in donations to cover your fines.

And put it on YouTube and send us the link.

No, I think the OP was honestly asking what he thought was a pertinent question, and he could be a newer Vols fan still getting used to the off season cycle of nonsense.

And the fact that when I found his post I had just hung up on one of those asshats a few hours beforehand was just a very ironic coincidence.
