Anyone know the specifics and how much of a raise do you think he'll get.

I don't know if we really want to go Charlie Weis on him, but then again I wouldn't mind wrapping him up for the long haul.

He did say that he'd never felt rich from coaching until he came to UT so we need to keep him happy.

I really like the guy but maybe I'm just gunshy from our other can't miss coaches. Wishy-washy enough for ya?

I do not know anything about this and this is just pure speculation, however after the game CBP rushed over to the tunnel opposite of the locker room side and grabbed Jim Haslam and said thank you about 10 times in the course of 20 seconds. He also whispered something in his ear. I do not know anything about this, I just found it interesting that he thought to practically run over across the arena after the game just to hug him and thank him. For those of you that do not know, Mr. Haslam is the biggest donor (I believe) to the athletic program here at UT.

Now, maybe Haslam presented him with an "incentive" bonus, or maybe it was something not related to that at all, just speculation...

fulmer should be on a year to year probation period and no raises until he win the sec. if he don't win 9 games next year they should send him packing.

:D They need to give him a long term contract and money.

They are many hate Fulmer threads. Has nothing to do with a thread about Pearl.

We need to keep giving him the respect that he has earned... I don't think he plans on going anywhere, he likes the "Big Time" feel of UT Athletics too much. Where else could he go that has an arena to hold 24,000+? There aren't many places it would make sense for him to skip out on UT for... just keep getting out to the Tommy and supporting him & our team!

Somehow this will also turn into a qb thread. :)

They should sign him now. A guy like Perle is good enough to move up to the top of the list of any major program when an opening occurs.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't give him a good deal in order to keep him. It would be hard to find another coach like him. Pearl seems like the total package to me. He can coach, he can sell the program, he can recruit, he's not cocky yet not boring, he's great with the media and great with the fans. It goes on and on.

It's tough finding a coach who can do all of those things well. Sign him up.

I like the fact that he wants our opponents' fans to HATE him... says he's not doing his job if they don't. :D

Actually, they had the back curtains down around the bleachers last night... you know what that means? GET YOUR BUTTS TO TBA!!!! LOL Seriously though, Saturday is a home game against Ole Miss. If you're in the area make your way out... you'll get to see the Vols play some really exciting basketball.

1.2 million is appropriate. that would put him in the top 3 or 4 salaries for the sec.

Pearl is a masterful coach, and that is obvious to most everyone. It wouldn't surprise me if in 5-10 years Pearl is coaching in the NBA. I think that should be concern.

I think there will be a host of schools who would want to lure Pearl away to coach at their university as well. Similar to whats happened to Bob Stoops several times (Florida for example recruiting him).

Yeah, I saw that, too. Told my friend that he practically broke his neck to catch Haslam before he left. Before that he had a big hug with Bob Goodfriend (Goody's) at mid-court. Didn't see him hugging Thunder Thornton, tho' surely my eyes would've caught that since Thunder was there lookin' all "hot" in a head-to-toe orange suit (not just a blazer like CBP!) I guess kissin' up to the big boosters is just part of the job, but the whole scene was a little nauseating. But hey, if all of it works together to make a successful b-ball program, then I'm all for it! ...who knows, maybe Haslam gave him the blazer!

You also have to keep in mind that UT and more specifically Coach Pearl desperately want a practice facility for the basketball team. From what has been said the big donors (Haslam, Goodfriend, and Thornton) wouldn't mind at all helping make this a reality but they have been waiting until we had a decent team.

Now, that's when it has become an obsession!

Conversation at the local Co Op.

Farmer1: Do you think it will rain tomorrow.

Farmer2: Probably, if that damn Fulmer has anything to do with it.

Conversation at the local Barber Shop.

Client1: Hey, does that Color Back stuff really work?

Barber: Fulmer should be on a short leash, if he loses 5 games this year, they should fire the ba*$ard. Stop playing with that bottle of hair dye and sit still man.

If Knoxville does'nt pay him some one will...ESPN loves him, he's a media darling and the man can coach. If Hamilton doess'nt give him a blank check and tell him to write the amount he's a idiot.

UT has reached an agreement in principle with Pearl for a five-year contract worth $800,000 a year plus bonuses and camp money. Pearl's base salary is $225,000. In addition, Pearl receives monies for radio and television commitments of $250,000, an equipment and apparel fee of $225,000, and an endorsement and appearance fee of $100,000.

At this rate expect a $100,000 in Bonus for this year and a contract extension for 1 year and a $100,000 pay raise.

I hope that is enough to keep him content at UT for a while.
