CBJ is comparable to Battle, Majors and Fulmer. Better than Kiffin and Dooley!

Someone please explain why he would be on the hot seat with this resume' considering what he inherited. 2 bowl wins over higher ranked teams and more wins year over year.

I'm glad you're hear CBJ and I support you!

Go Vols!

CBJ isn't on a hot seat. He has some insignificant critics, but the people that matter aren't in that group.

If Butch can't withstand the critics, he's way overpaid and in the wrong job. His seat isn't hot, but the kitchen is and if he can't take it then he needs to get out of it.

Glad I wasn't paying attention in late 70's and early 80's. Man, VN would have been totally nuts back then!

You know it's a good season when fans have to go back 46 years to defend the current coaching staff.

Again, context. The SECE is literally, worse this year, than any of the years that you have above. Any of those coaches you've listed, with the current roster, would have no problem cruising to a spot in ATL.

Dooley would have cruised to Atlanta? Hmm.. Also, if Kiffin had stayed another 2 years we probably wouldn't have even been able to field a team. How many from his recruiting class actually graduated? 2?

I didn't say whether or not any of those coaches could recruit this roster, or if they would have us in the NCAA doghouse after two years. I said that any of those coaches, with the roster we had coming into the season, with the current state of the SECE, would be in Atlanta; even Dooley.

No the East isn't worse. Look up the stats. Your last sentence is pure stupidity.

Are we conveniently ignoring injuries? If Butch had been able to use the roster we had to start the season we'd be competitive with Bama in ATL..

How many offensive players did we have out for the Alabama game again?

My issue with Butch is the fact he discredited winning the East because we've won 8 games so far this season. That's great and all, but 8-9 win seasons are pointless if it doesn't mean at least winning your division. You play to win championships, and at Tennessee that has always been the standard. No matter how bad this past decade has been for Tennessee football, the goal has always been to represent the East in the SEC championship game.

Team 120 was loaded with talent and leadership, and the East was ours for the taking. Butch could not get it done. While injuries took a toll, it's part of the game. No matter how you spin it, there was no excuse to lose to South Carolina while coming off of a bye week. Our offense stalled the entire game, and Butch lost to Muschamp yet again.

Do I think he should be fired? No, but I strongly doubt his ability to get us to Atlanta based on his 4 year tenure thus far. That being said, I appreciate his efforts in making Tennessee a respectable program again and I hope he proves me wrong next season.

We started with 2 or 3 offensive linemen hurt. And Chance Hall was trying to play hurt, which Hall should not have.

We finished with 4 out of our starting 5 hurt.

Any team in the county then and now is completely FUBAR with that kind of attrition against Bama's front 7

Offensive line decimated and we lost arguably our best RB in the first quarter. And yes, our play calling left a little to be desired, but not much you can do when you're trying to prevent your QB from getting killed. This Bama team might be the best in the history of college football.

"...coming into the season..." being the key phrase in that post, because by game 3 we were down 3 All-SEC defensive players. And by game 6 we were without 5 defensive starters and 3 more out of the 2-deep rotation on defense. Shoop said before the season that there were key players he could not afford to lose (Barnett, JRM, Sutton, and Kirkland), and by Game 3 he had lost 3 of them. Not to mention that on offense they were having to reshuffle the offensive line almost every game due to injuries.

So yeah, coming into the season that was a team that could have gotten to Atlanta.

SECE is actually better this year than most years of the 90's. See other blog!

FYI...Bama and Georgia sucked from 1995 to 2008 so you could say Fulmer's tenure was easier.

Given the injuries? Nope....
