I live in Northern Virginia and listen to the local ESPN D.C. radio when I'm in the car. This morning on the show "Kevin and Cooley" they were breaking down coaches who mismanaged the clock over the college football weekend, which is a regular segment they do.

What was interesting was when they were talking about how bad the App State coach mismanaged the clock at the end of the game, the lead host diverted from App States coach and said something like "Butch Jones, by the way, who's the King of making bad decisions, such as losing to Florida last year for no good reason..."

While its no secret CBJ has made some questionable calls, its still interesting to hear that there are those outside the SEC, and even college football in general that see how poorly Jones is at being an in-game coach. Great recruiter/motivator, not so good at making decisions between the white lines

They're 100% right. He's earned his reputation and it's not gonna change until he does something to change it.

Butch made the decision to lose to Florida last year? That should be a fireable offense

It's abundantly clear that Butch is incapable of making in game adjustments. I think he just believes in his system so much that he's willing to "live or die" with it. "Trust the process"...

Agreed. It plays right into the "Tennessee is always overrated" narrative. The losses weren't all on him last year, but he definitely had a part in them. The perception of "here goes Tennessee again" will not change until it happens on the field against Florida and Bama.

...maybe, sometimes it's not so good to be king...Butch may be a prince, but he's not the king...(see LSU, Notre Dame, Vandy, Miss St, etc.,)....:)

GO VOLS!

I sincerely wish Butch Jones the best and would like to see him and the VOLS win big this year. Ultimately, he has to start winning against our 3 biggest rivals to survive long term. 1-8 against BAMA, FL and GA the last 3 years will not keep him at TN long term. Of course he himself knows that. I think he has the talent to beat all 3 of them this year which he will do in my opinion.

The three words I have come to hate most are "Same ole Tennessee..." The runner up is "Here we go..."

Defense adjusted great. Second half we shut them down. Does butch get credit for that?

Can't spell Citrus without UT.:)

Has to beat Florida this year. Needs to win the East. That's all.

Georgia was a good win, I don't deny that. Florida and Bama are different stories.

Assuming the Vols beat Florida this year it still won't make any difference because by definition if Tennessee beats you, you suck....so therefore Tennessee still won't have beaten anyone who doesn't suck. So like I say if the Vols beat Florida come September 24 then the Gators must suck because they lost to Tennessee and CBJ will still not have beaten anyone of note...not even that 2013 USCe team that finished 4th nationally, they sucked too.

So you're satisfied with ONE good win every season?? No wonder our fans are okay with mediocrity.

Out the door when Sutton muffed the punt. Blatantly obvious

Which, if true, is beyond concerning since that play happened about 2.5 minutes in to the first quarter. If that's all it took for this team to get "unmotivated" then we got serious problems. Of course, Laura Rutledge said our players were still complaining about PWill's drop in the endzone a quarter or two later, so you may be onto something.

Nope...it's Shoop's defense 100%. However, the offensive strategy is 100% CBJ's. The offensive play calling is 75% Butch and 25% Debord. The reason Butch hired Debord is bc he would do exactly what he wants...I don't know why ppl can't grasp that.

I have said it once and I will say it again.............Butch Jones coaches to conservative/scared to WIN big games.......they are scared to throw the ball w/ Dobbs at QB more than 15-20x a game..........the play calling is very repetitive and predictable.........my perception is CBJ worries about what others think about him as a coach and that is why you see him NEVER blowing anybody out and if he does get a big lead, he tells the OC to just shut it down when other coaches like urban meyer, gundy, swinney, fisher; they let their 2nd string come in and still run plays to try and score to get in game experience !!!..........This is just all my opinion / perception....
