For those that believe injuries hurt our chances of beating SC and Vandy, we went from SECe champs playing for a spot in the playoffs to the MCB. Our fall was far and fast too.

Had Butch dealt with the adversities of the season and the team had still reached its goals, then yeah, I can see some guys reaching out to a coach who finished 10-2 and played Bama for the SEC title. But calling a guy who failed miserably this season, adversities or not....I'm calling BS.....unless the calls were from high school or lower level collegiate coaches looking for a job or something. Legit coaches would've called guys like McElwain who dealt with and overcame adversity and had success.

It's not the first time Jones has mentioned this. You so called fans don't appreciate just how low this program had fallen and what a disaster Jones has turned around. It may not be the pinnacle of success, but the turn around CAN NOT BE DENIED.

I'm quite sure that several coaches have indeed contacted Jones about how he put out the dumpster fire and moved us from laughing stock to a contender for the division in 3 years. You sour grapes people are a disgrace to the pride and tradition of UT.

And what adversity did he handle well? The Preston Williams adversity?....he left the team mid season. The Jalen Hurd adversity?......he left the team midsession. The Danny OBrien is a pothead adversity?.....he was kicked off the team mid season. How about the injuries on defense adversity?......our defense was Sunseri-bad of epic proportions and was exposed as having little to no developed/ready-to-play depth once we lost some starters.

Jones just keeps doubling down even after his previous comments have made him a laughingstock. Whoever the next AD is has got to reign Butch in and get him to understand that people are hanging on to his every word. He's embarrassing himself and the program with all his ridiculous statements.

I assume you are not one of the ones who were embarrassed and tired of Butch "Coach Speak." He can say all of the right things, cliches, etc, and he gets burned for being too boring and predictable. When he comes out and starts defending his players (champions of life) and coaching adversities, he now needs to reign it in and stop embarrassing the university? We all called for more honesty, and that is what we are getting imo.

We aren't Vanderbilt. We DO NOT have to settle for mediocrity. I believe we have an elite tradition for football in Knoxville, and when we are a Jalen Hurd fumble recovery and a Hail Mary away from 6-6 after entering the season as favorites to win the east, that is a disappointing and mediocre year. We've seen Butch get outcoached multiple times up to this point. How many more will it take for the excuses to stop?

It's kinda like the election just behind us. You've still got a group of folks who sincerely don't get it. They still have no clue what just happened and why. WE MUST be civil to these fans realizing we can't kick them out just because they honestly don't get it. 40+ years and I've NEVER seen a program more ravished by injuries. NEVER. Playing DE at DT because we LITERALLY had no other DT's. But we will strive through this as well....sigh!!!!

He also said the reason why his "Champions of Life" comment got so much criticism is because 7 other teams have the same motto....

"Butch Jones on champions for life "I want to say 7 college football programs have that motto so when I said it it didn't resonate very well"


How much more tone deaf can this guy get?

Butch please just STFU! I am begging you. You are making it impossible to like you at this point. No one is calling you. No one wants you as a coach. Shut up until you actually prove something and quit being a DB. You took a 10 win team and made them an 8 win team. That's failing at your job..... everyone knows it except fo you.
