CBJ comments on other coaches asking for advice

Why is this so hard to believe? Most teams with the amount of injuries UT had would have lost more than 4 games and not been competitive. Keeping a team focused during that is not easy.

Seriously one only has too compare what happened to Ole Miss verses Tennessee to see that one team handled the rash of injuries and adversity better.

Might be the most underrated post in this thread, no excuse to lose to vandy or USC but no denying how bad injuries hurt us this year.

I don't even know what focus you're referring to

The key injuries started early in the season (JRM, Cam, Kirkland .... ) and continued to mount.

I took this as him saying they were asking how he dealt with the adversity around the injuries and keeping the players positive moving forward.

I did not take it that they were asking about the X's and O's but on the mental aspect that a rash of injuries and having a starter quit will put on a team.

And it showed during the 2nd half of the season. Injuries? Is that why UT lost to SC and Vandy.

It wasn't the Mizzu or Ky coaches, they saw it first hand. Florida and Ga was wishing they played us later in the year, same goes for VTech.

I'm sure Butch answered, we lost to SC and Vandy, call somebody else.

This is not inside info, just another poor attempt at humor.

We have a winner!

Who in their right mind would've called a coach as embattled as Jones is right now to ask for advice on how to "manage adversity"? I'm calling BS, again.

So what is the exact question he's fielding from all these coaches?? "How did you find a way to piss away a bad SEC East handed to you on a platter by losing to two SEC bottom dwellers?" Is that the question?

And what adversity did he handle well? The Preston Williams adversity?....he left the team mid season. The Jalen Hurd adversity?......he left the team midsession. The Danny OBrien is a pothead adversity?.....he was kicked off the team mid season. How about the injuries on defense adversity?......our defense was Sunseri-bad of epic proportions and was exposed as having little to no developed/ready-to-play depth once we lost some starters.

Jones just keeps doubling down even after his previous comments have made him a laughingstock. Whoever the next AD is has got to reign Butch in and get him to understand that people are hanging on to his every word. He's embarrassing himself and the program with all his ridiculous statements.
