FWIW, per listening to that interview, Butch did not say that he 'caught the ball'.

Butch said that he 'had the ball'. The referee came and got it from him.

Big difference.

Q: Where are your Buccaneers?

A: On your bucking head

And this was the day Butch decided to give up his dreams of being in the band and go into coaching football.

The million dollar question now, did CBJ catch it or pick it up?

This sounds like a Brian Williams story.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, but he never said anything about catching it. In the interview, all he said was "I had the ball" and then the referee came and got it from him.

I hope he doesn't catch any big kicks of Medleys unless he is standing directly behind the post next year.

That kick down in FL looked a lot like Medleys down in FL. Butch holding that ball has brought the Norwood curse to Rocky Top. :-o

It looks like the kick made it to the first rows of the crowd. And perhaps they tossed it back to Butch. Or, they tossed it to another ball boy who handed it to Butch.

I think he is saying that the ball passed thru his hands at one point before the ref got it back from him.

Looks like a guy with a mullet caught it in this video

IMO, Dan Harralson is a young reporter seeking 15 minutes of fame with his inaccurate title on that YouTube audio.

From the Norwood kick video, it doesn't appear that anyone caught the kick. You can see a heavy guy in white polo style shirt turn toward the crowd and react quickly to his left as if the ball ricochets off a wall.
