SIAP, but what is Jones buyout schedule if we fire him? His buyout to leave is fairly small.

2.5 million per year for next 4 years totalling to 10 million if he is fired today.
Unlike Dooley's, his buyout will decrease if he takes another job. So if we fire him and Butch makes close to 5 million in next 4 years, we only owe him 5 million.
Butch should be able to land a mid tier job and we should be able to afford another 5-6 million. Fire him !!!

Good thing he got that extension after going 6-6 in 14'. Otherwise his contract would be up soon. Thanks Hart. (Sarcasm).

Edit: and a pay raise in 15 with increased buyout.

These college folks that negotiate these contracts have about as much business sense as politicians who have negotiated our trade deals, NONE

If we are going to get rid of him and keep losses to a minimum, we need to move now. Put him on the market during buying season.

I am glad the folks on here don't make the decisions for UT.

Change coaches now and get ready for another bad 4 to 5 years.

Some seemed to have not learned anything from the past.

I've learned you don't hold onto a dead man walking coach to save a few bucks. Recruiting will CONTINUE its downward spiral. Waiting does NOT help in these situations.

Florida,Ala,AU,USC,Michigan etc didn't go through 4-5 bad years after a coaching change..neither would we with the right hire.

Exactly, waiting may be cheaper on the front end but will cost more in the long run. This years recruiting class looks to be average at best in the SEC. Next years(2018) class could be a disaster if things don't go well early on.

What part do you think I don't get it?Hart set the man up well, that much is obvious.

There is literally no concern over Jones leaving UT, nor has there ever been. It's the first part of the buyout that is ridiculous.

Keep him around like we did dooley. We have enough talent right now to win and build quickly with the right hire. Maybe we keep this mind set until the program is so down we have to hire a lower level coach again . post less.

Tennessee would only have to pay him minus his whay his nee job pays him. So if bum f@#k state pays him 1.5 million a year Tennessee would owe him 1 mil a year.

That's just it. UT is so bad at hiring coach's. They thy and get a dollar tree bargain and then try a compete in the sec. Not going to happen.

The problem is that the definition of bad year would put all of these coaches (except Bama) on the "bad year" list for the coach given the standards that many have on this board. The standards are conference championship and CPF. Most of the teams you named don't stack up.

I find it ironic when folks through out teams without paying attention to their records.

USC's record the last 4 years 9-3, 8-6, 9-4, 10-4 ==> Most on here would be firing the coach.

Florida's record the last 4 years 8-3 (probably going to end up 8-5), 10-4, 7-5 and 4-8. They fired one coach, the new one will be on the hot seat if they end up 8-5.

Auburn record the last 4 years 8-4, 7-6, 8-5, 12-2 (if not for starting out good their coach would be gone by now). If they lose the bowl game he will on the hot seat. ==> Most on here would be firing him since he has lost the SEC the last 3 years.

Michigan - How long will they be okay with 3rd in their division and no trip to the championship?

And I know USC is in the top 10 but if this wasn't a crazy year and teams had the normal number of losses they would be no where near the top 10 with 3 losses.
