CBJ allegedly tells Drae Bowles he 'betrayed the team'

A Boy has crush on a girl, that girl wanted another guy, that guy and girl get involved, then that girl regrets it. Everyone has been drinking, boy consults his crush, boy does everything he can to stay on crushes side, and reports to police, other team mates find out about this and get mad at the boy. the boy gets embarrassed for being called out. boy departs for the best interest for all parties. Boy now is mad and wants revenge. That is how I understand said situation.

Or AJ Johnson raped a girl and Bowles did the right thing. Or maybe not. But even if there are some people involved serving selfish interests, it's pretty difficult to believe that Tennessee didn't mess up somewhere in this mess. Do people here really believe all the rape accusations are false?

If you have a daughter and she is sexually assaulted or raped, would you expect her to pursue criminal charges or pursue civil charges?

You cant hold a university responsible for peoples actions. The f up is that universitys are asked to investigate these matters. As an athlete and coach im gonna defend my teamates and players until i know for a fact that they are guilty. Rape is an awful thing but that shouldnt fall on a football coach or a university that should fall on the individual.

Probably both. Criminal against the person who committed a crime, and civil if I thought others contributed or made worse what happened.

I would say there are people on both sides of the rape allegations. But what really made Volnation jump was the allegations concerning Butch Jones in the past few days, and it seems that the vast majority are on Coach Jones' side.

"Never Belittle a young man...", I wonder if hitting a young man, in public would be considered belittling???
I believe there is footage of CBJ hitting, the confessed sexual pervert. Thankfully his attraction for 14 year old girls only started after he left UT.

Foolish post. There is no "footage" because this never happened.

Correct. I've been reading stooopid comments on VN threads the past couple of days. Just when I think none can be stooopider, along comes the clown you cited claiming we should watch nonexistent footage and he wins the stooopidest prize.

He was still on the team as a 5th year Sr - where do you get after he left UT ?

Read the reports and tell me you could convict someone for rape. Did they use horrible judgment? Yes but would you convict someone to prison for 20+ yrs and ruin their life over these stories? I couldn't. All of these women I've read (I haven't read all 8) went to these guys apts for sex. All had sex with someone willingly and started with others. I don't know where the yes ends and the no begins. "Without a reasonable doubt" is not just a motto. It's our law. t

The KPD only felt like there was 1 case strong enough to take to the grand jury. And from what I know about that case, it seems very shaky to me. The prosecutors are hiding evidence. And there are multiple witnesses for the defense. etc. etc. So what gives anyone the right to condemn when none of these men have even had a chance to defend themselves? And what gives anyone a right to think they are better equipped to prosecute than our law enforcement? Why should we take allegations as fact instead of allowing the accused to be treated as innocent until proven otherwise? So, yeah - I believe they are all false until I see evidence to prove otherwise.

Can you tell me the number of convictions?

I'm not saying we should throw them in jail. But some people seem to have no problem attacking Bowles and assuming that all these allegations are false. I mean one or two, maybe, but this many? There's a real problem here.

Again, how many convictions are there?

I am dumbfounded by the number of people that want to play the if, but, maybe, might be, etc games.

No convictions. And what games? All I'm saying is a lot of people seem very sure that this is all some big misunderstanding/cash grab/conspiracy against Tennessee, and I'm fairly certain they wouldn't all be viewing this the same way if it was happening at Florida under Meyer or Alabama under Saban.

My answer would be yes. I have 2 sons and if they put theirselves in that situation, I would want them to be criminally charged and have their day in court if they did some **** like this. They're young now and will be raised and taught how to respect women, but of course everybody makes mistakes and I pray that they will never be in this situation.

No convictions. And what games? All I'm saying is a lot of people seem very sure of something, and I'm more or less certain we wouldn't be viewing this the same way if it was happening at Florida under Meyer or Alabama under Saban.

I would.

These plaintiffs are disgusting no matter who they are milking.

I have no idea what the true facts of the case are, and I won't assume I do. Here is what I do know. When I read the lawsuit, I did not see anyone admit to physically assaulting Drae Bowles. Maggit admitted confronting him, but it does not say he hit him. Orta, iirc, admits to threatening him, but there is no mention of him hitting Drae. The lawsuit clearly states that Butch told the players to leave Drae alone. As for Drae Bowles, what is being reported as being stated in his recent deposition contradicts what he told a reporter in the past. So he has presented conflicting stories, thus casting a shadow of doubt upon himself.

If this were happening somewhere else, I would want the truth to come out, just as I want the truth to come out here. Would I have the same vested interest? No, I wouldn't, but I'd still want the truth to be found. Just means I wouldn't follow those cases as closely.

1. For me, and I think I'm in the majority, the reason i have a problem with Bowles is because his statement changed 180 degrees. It's as simple as that.

2. We've not had one player yet convicted. Neither Lane nor Pearson were even charged. I'm not sure what policies and procedures implemented by the university administration can be found fault with, but I don't see how the case can be made about that Jones and the AD hasn't handled the relevant cases swiftly and appropriately. So, how can you confidently say "there's a real problem here"? We don't yet know....let it play out. To this point, as far as we know, the only "real problem" is the public relations aspect which hasn't exactly been fair and balanced.

If this makes it to trial, Bowles contradictions could and should be picked apart by an attorney.

You could say that in each case, he could have been lying because of external forces at play.

First testimony lie could be because: - tell the truth and get my butt beat.

Second testimony lie could be because: tell the truth and a) not get my revenge on CBJ for not playing me, b) not get victim $$$.

Which is in play here?

If this kid actually did do the right thing and be an advocate for a girl who had been taken advantage of, regardless of how this turns out, I salute him.

If he has a vendetta against the coach and team and is lying for revenge, shame to him.

 Gonna be a while before this calms down.

I'm so tired of this **** every single offseason. This University just cannot catch a break.

Everybody in the damn country hates our ass.
