CBJ allegedly tells Drae Bowles he 'betrayed the team'

What kills me is that any reasonable person would want to know the context of a statement like that, assuming it was actually said in the first place. I can think of several ways it could have been said where it was not some sort of condemnation from Butch Jones.

D.B.: "Why are some of the guys mad at me, Coach?"
B.J.: "They see you as a traitor to the team. Don't worry though, we're going to straighten this thing out and get back on track."

That's one of at least a dozen scenarios where there was no malice from Jones in that statement.

Yup, but no one will consider the least malicious version. There's no drama in that.

This all day long. If, and I mean a big if, Butch ever used the word traitor around Bowles this is exactly how I believe the conversation would've went down.

Exactly the team feels you betrayed them, not saying in context you are one.. But you know how these things play out and sh!t gets twisted...

Maybe I just drink the Kool aid too often but seems like Jones is too smart for that. I like Butch and yeah his press conferences are robotic but he's done a lot since he's gotten the job to rebuild the football program. Is he perfect? No. He's had his coaching issues as far as game situations but he seems to pride himself on being here. I know that doesn't excuse him if it happened that way. But I'm not going to fire the man until we hear more

Anyone seen or got a link to Bowles alleged affidavit? The earlier link in this thread was just to the amended complaint drafted by the plaintiffs' attorneys, not a sworn statement signed by Bowles.

So you believe one side, and not the other? You also enjoyed the King article also I suppose..

In his defense after reading Vol Nation, Facebook, and Twitter it seems there a lot of fans taking the anti-Bowles side. Rationally we all should be taking a wait and see attitude instead of planting our flags with very little facts.

One thing that is fact Tennessee does have a sexual assault issue, and something needs to be done about it. What I mean by issue is everything from false sexual assault claims, actual sexual assault claims, to perception of the University as a whole. Yes this is nation wide issue, but to be honest right now all I care about is Tennessee.

The amended complaint with Bowles portion also does not cite an affidavit, which would be the common way to introduce it if there was such an affidavit.

I believe most of us are...

The thing is many stories don't jive with what their earlier transcripts said. Starting with Manning and the Nutty trainer who has twisted and ranted and lied through this whole entire thing. GBO!

Already saw it. A lot of this BS doesn't match up! It's gonna be a long, hard, ride. All we can do is hang in there for UT.

GO VOLS!

People on here a convinced this all untrue, but if this info came out for another school they'd all be saying it's true. I'm saying I won't be shocked if some of these accusations are true.

I don't care about other schools...that's why I'm not on THEIR message boards.

Never mind - article still states

"Bowles, who transferred to UT Chattanooga shortly after the alleged November 2014 incidents, provided the account of events in a sworn declaration filed in federal court in Nashville. In the statement, Bowles acknowledged he might be called as a witness and is willing to testify in the case."

Can you post the metrics you have access to to quantify that "fact". Also, please post those same metrics from every other university in the country. Also, please post the national standard for the categorization of it being at the "issue" level. Will be good to see where we rank with all the other universities and what category we officially fall into based on the national standard. Probably won't take you long. I have confidence you have those handy, so that you could make that statement.

First I have heard about throwing phone away, that's interesting to say the least!!

It's been a big hang up in upcoming trial. The defense wants the texts she sent to AJ before the alleged assault. Plaintiff's lawyer is stonewalling and claiming the phone was lost.

She and her friend/witness both threw away their phones the day after. Who does that? Then, AJ's and Williams' lawyers tried to get the girls to provide texts and phone records from the time in question, and they refused. Why would a real victim need to hide evidence?

If this was being reported about another school, people on here would be running with it saying it's all true. Especially if it was an sec school.

Umm u may be speaking truth but I would not be emotionally invested in it this my vfl family and butch is our dad so I got my family's back

Not to criticize the pic because i think the whole thing is a sham. But, if that pic had sources cited on it it'd be a killer.

Lawsuit Claims Tennessee Football Players Assaulted Drae Bowles For Helping Rape Victim | The Big Lead

Bowles was called to testify to the grand jury that eventually indicted Johnson and Williams. In an interview from February 13, 2015, he claimed he had given the alleged victim a ride home from the party where the rape occurred, but she did not tell him she was sexually assaulted. He also denied that he had been assaulted himself.

the more I read around the more im starting to believe that story goes as this:

Drae Bowels girlfriend was sleep around, she got caught by Drae, and and in stead of just taking it and accepting that she cheated on him, she screamed out rape. which would explain why she didnt tell Bowels the night he picked her up.

Then when he went back to the locker room he confronted AJ about "raping" his girl, AJ said she was consenting and Drae got mad, they got in an argument and Curt being the friend he is, he backed up his homie and decked Drae in the mouth. Whether or not Butch said what he said or not, I dont blame him either way, he knew the insight that the media does not.

and now Drae knows the truth but is too deep in now to turn it back around, which is why is stories conflicted.

and the other 5 unnamed victims are simply ignorant ****s who bought into the whole rape stuff and decided to dig up stuff from 20 years ago to gather as much dirt to file a lawsuit

BOOM!
