Holy moly. Get that dude in a UT uniform

Unless Bone leaves I don’t think Tennessee needs to even try for a 1 year guard.

Right now they have Bone, Turner, Bowden, and the 5 star freshmen......the Johnson & Pons. For immediate help they need to look for a small forward and/or a power forward.

I believe the staff sees him as an Admiral replacement

Well Tennessee certainly needs more big “athletes” (6-5 - 6-8). Tennessee certainly has a good core, but Bowden may be their only real athlete (in my opinion.........Pons is not even close to being there yet).

He is similar in size, athleticism, and playing style to Admiral. I'd rather have him than rely on Pons, Johnson, or James as a freshman to immediately replace Admiral.

Of the big men from Hoosier's list, he's the only one available that looks worthwhile

Derrik Smits is Rik Smit's son. He wasn't too shabby at Valpo. He can block shots and rebound. Also shoots ~60% from the floor.

Johnson has no business even being in the discussion for rotation unless something drastically changes over the offseason. If enough players leave that it drops down to him we better hit the transfer portal hard.

Mid season on Tennessee had 7 players that could give quality minutes (walker, Pons, Johnson could give minutes but not quality). If Grant decides to go that will leave 4. Tennessee will gain 2 for next year which would put them at 6. Tennessee could have used more than 7 this year (with more bench quality, possibility they win a couple of those close ones). Tennessee will certainly need more than 6 next year as even the 6 they will have is not like what they had.

They better be on portal regardless.
Also down low Tennessee had Grant, Alexander with help from Admiral and some quality (not a lot but some) from Fulky and minutes from Walker.

Next year if Grant leaves.......as it stands it would be Burnes, and Fulky, with help from Pons, and minutes from Walker (which could turn into quality) but that is it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a large majority of these players were cleared to play under the “hardship” rule. The Miami QB hardship approval is going to open the flood gates for transfers.

Yes many will play next year

With Bone's departure one has to believe the coaching staff would look for a PG in th pool of transfers. Anybody look like a good candidate for UT?

Kira Lewis, if he stays in the portal.
Just read the article on Kira Lewis on 247. They seemed to think he will definitely leave Bama. Since he was a Frosh this season wouldn't he have to sit out a year? Long list of teams after him, but I would think UT would have a shot at him.

Of the schools mentioned Baylor, Georgia, Iowa St, and TCU were among the final 12 that he originally had narrowed his decision to before committing to Alabama. Wonder if that still holds any weight now. Also, Duke is interested now - he didn’t have an offer from them in HS

It will be interesting to see how many of these kids have to sit. NCAA seems to have relaxed those rules. But even if he sits, he comes in to replace Turner or Bowden in 2020-21.

You have a link to the article by chance?

Not sure if you omitted Tennessee because it was a given, but we were very involved with Lewis coming out of HS.
