Caught A Taxslayer Bowl Replay....

I think that Butch respects the Iowa coach and program and did not want to post 50 on him.

This is likely the reason. He likes and respects Ferentz and didn't feel the need to pull a 90's Spurrier in a game that his team clearly dominated in every aspect from the opening kick.

I thought I remembered him trying to get as many players, especially seniors, on the field once the game was in hand.

This game will stick in my memory as being one of the most enjoyable experiences in a very long time as a Vols fan.

It had everything.

Perfect weather in Jax.
Watching Bama lose in the playoffs the night before the game.
Meeting Brian Randolph's family at my hotel (his brother looks identical to him).
Massive showing for the Vol walk.
The defense stopping Iowa early.
The offense exploding out of the gates with Dobbs and Hurd dominating and witnessing a huge talent mismatch on the field.
Lane throwing a touchdown pass in his final Tennessee game.
The sheer jubliation in the stadium at halftime when we were up 35-7.
Knowing that we were actually going to WIN the bowl game and finish with a winning season and all the momentum that would entail.

Great, great experience.

Just watched it again. It's good to see barnett in the backfield almost every play. I can't wait for the season to start.

OP,

Once the outcome was pretty much decided, I'm sure Jones subbed a lot and tried to run the clock. SOP for most coaches when style points aren't needed.

This was really my question. I wondered if some super fans who memorized the jersey numbers could tell who all he subbed. It might have also been a combination of subs and different plays being called like someone else mentioned in the thread. The players being winded by the 4th I don't buy because we watched our guys go the full 60 minutes the entire season.

Clearly Dobbs was never taken out though.

Dobbs came out late in the 4th quarter I think. Pretty sure Peterman took the snap in the victory formation.

...

And VN freaked out that BGSU would beat UT now that Peterman was our QB.

Yeah, he did come out because he helped dump the Gatorade on Butch. He was still in the game far too long though overall.

I love the Vols as much as the next guy, but what?

Weird thing to say if it turns out he's guilty... generally people tend do the opposite of honoring rapists.

I hope he's not guilty and that would be great. As much as I love the Vols, I don't know the guy and can't take up for the guy as long as he potentially raped someone. That's unfair to him if it turns out he's innocent but I can't in good conscience care what so ever about someone who committed rape(if true).

I would love to eat my words if he's found to be innocent(and actually is innocent). It would be beneficial to everyone involved. To him, to the school, to the fans and most importantly, the (supposed) victim. If it turns out he was the victim of false claims, then she's the real scumbag and I'd feel horrible for AJ. None the less, it's hard to look away from rape just because I enjoyed him as a player previously.

August 24th. Hope we'll find out it's not true.

I hope you don't seriously think that the team stopped a particular number in honor of anything, right?

Are you seriously disappointed because we didn't score more? I don't think Butch Jones will ever intentionally run up a score just to do it. I hope we have more games where we can drop it back a notch if needed and work on a few wrinkles and personnel packages. I don't think it is a matter of any particular person(s). Just wanted to enjoy a great win.

I am not a huge fan of running up the score but with Florida this year if we can hang 100 on them I hope we don't stop

The defense in the 3rd and 4th quarter was not pressuring like they was before hand.. Most of Iowa's yards came from QB scrambles and such.. IIRC Basically let them gain yards but eating their own clock as well.
