It's hard for me to make sense sometimes of recruiting classes. I've seen Tenn. ranked as high as 1st in overall quality, and as low as 8th. What's the real story?

Tennessee's recruiting class was one of the deepest and most talented in the nation. The best player is Eric Berry. He is a orner who is a freakish ath and is compared to Champ Bailey. Chris Donald is not too far behind in 2nd as he was rated the best LB in the nation. Ben Martin would be 3rd. He is a big, fast DE who is compared to Jevon Kearse. We got a lot of highly-rated athletes on offense such as Gerald Jones, Kenny O'Neal, Brent Vinson, Ahmad Paige, and more who will be scoring td's for the Big Orange in the near future. Overall class: A :eek:k:

Here's a breakdown of those who should have immediate impacts:

DE Ben Martin
CB Eric Berry
WR (JUCO) Kenny O'Neal
WR (Prep) Brett Vinson
WR Gerald Jones
LB Chris Donald
LB Chris Walker
DB (JUCO) Deangelo Willingham
DB (JUCO) Nevin McKenzie

You might also hear the names of WR Ahmad Paige, WR Darnius Moore, RB Lennon Creer, and DB Art Evans. Creer could end up being a stud running back in the future.

I hope they impact CAL and Fla. on the forehead.:banghead2:

3 Guys stand out in my mind, and those are the 3 gusy in Rivals top 50, Berry, Martin, and Donald. I hope all of them get an opportunity to play immediately.

I think you guys are forgetting Art Evans. Although he was only rated 3* by scout, his performance in the OW game was outstanding. He had only been on campus for 10 weeks when the game was played but he was a blanket cover corner supreme in that game. He was very good at attacking the run as well. As good as some of the more highly rated recruits seem to be, they're going to have a helluva time beating out Evans IMO.

Not trying to take anything away from donald, but I dont see him having an immediate impact. The reason being how deep we are at linebacker.

I tried to catch some of Lennon Creer's footage on Rivals. But after making me wait 30 seconds of a lame commercial, the video was no longer available. Looks like a very solid player though.

Was that against the 1st or 2nd team offense? Unfortunately, UT's WR's probably would make a lot of CB's look good this spring.

I remember after the OW game the coaches saying he'll still probably redshirt.

Our poor WR play may have made Evans look a little better, but he still more than held his own against guys that had been in the system for a couple of years now. Looks like a good one for the future, possibly making an impact this year.

Berry was told that the coaches have a package ready for him on offense. I'm sure that he will not be lining up on offense very often, but we may see it some even early on this year. You don't wan't supperior talents like Berry riding the pine.

I wouldn't think we're extremely deep at lb right now. We look to have a good trio of starters, but behind that? Meyers-White and Ellix Wilson? Both are juniors and neither have been big contributors thus far. Some talent behind Mayo/McCoy/Karl, but all relatively unproven so far.

I imagine that is probably really more of a statement about the quality of our totally inexperienced wide receivers.

i know its been talked about on here a few times but is Berry actually gonna play both sides of the ball?

I'm pretty sure I read that Cut plans to use him on offense. I just hope it is something less predictable than lining him up at qb every now and then and running a draw every time.

We've got to find a way to get him the ball. Even if for just a play or two each game. Just seems like it would open up other opportunities and give the opposing D something else to think about.

Guys I promise you will see G. Jones in an offensive package before E. Berry... lets not forget that G threw for 2100 yards and ran for 2100 yards with 57 tds... He wad also recruited by a couple of D-1 schools to play QB, with the biggest one being V-Tech...

I would rather see Berry help us on defense first then look to other areas if we need it.
