Given that a huge portion of UT supporters constantly clamor for the signing of in state talent, I'm surprised nobody has commented on Tennessee's lack of interest in Prather.

This is ridiculous! Why is Tennessee showing such a lack of interest in Casey Prather! He's right here in Tennessee and he's even better than Skylar "Jesus" McBee!

What is the story on the lack of interest in Prather?
I've been wondering the same thing for about a year now.

He must wear the wrong shoes, play for the wrong AAU coach, have an attitude problem, and be anti-Semitic.

Chris Crawford also made a big name for himself in Vegas (I am sure you knew this Hat). There is quite a bit of in-state talent right now.

Chris Crawford benefits from having elite talent surrounding him on the AAU trail. If a team wants him as a complimentary piece, that's fine. If someone is duped into thinking the fact he made a tournament winning shot out there makes him a primary option, they'll be horribly disappointed.

I won't disagree that he has a loaded AAU squad. :good!:

From the Vegas tourney...

Joe Jackson (Memphis Magic)- Jackson put together a string of high-scoring games on the final day of the adidas Super 64, leading his team to a championship. As a point guard, Jackson has improved as a distributor, but his bread is buttered by his ability to score tough points. With a blazing burst to the basket going either direction, Jackson gets to the bucket with the best of them. But more than just his athleticism and scoring touch, it is competitive fire that makes him special. Not many players can cover half the court in three seconds and hit a running 30-footer to put a game into overtime with a composed confidence like Jackson did to take down DC Assault in the semifinals.

Adonis Thomas (2011 Memphis Magic)- Although Thomas is a role player for the Magic, he is an elite small forward prospect in his own right. His jumper continues to improve, and he will likely have his choice of school before his recruitment comes to an end. An elite defender with a big time body, Thomas has the skill package and the intangibles that would make a college coach drool.

Chris Crawford (Memphis Magic)- The 6-foot-4 shooting guard played his way into being a high major recruit in Las Vegas. A pure shooter with sneaky athleticism, Crawford hit big shots after big shots and played a strong overall game. He was definitely the x-factor for the Memphis squad.

Unless there's a major change of course, you can add Adonis Thomas to that list.

I had read he wanted to go to more of an educational school ala Robert O'Kelley. Not sure how accurate that one is though. Still have a while for him though.

The peer pressure he's going to get from his cohorts is going to be exceptionally difficult to ignore.

Probably. The news just showed the team at the airport getting back from LV and they seemed to love hanging together and playing together.

Once the Memphis fans get past their bitterness and hurt feelings, they're going to realize that the upcoming players off the Memphis Magic are Cal's real legacy. Those guys got to see firsthand what Memphis basketball can accomplish. John made it cool to be a Tiger. Those kids get the added benefit of doing it in their hometown. Now, Josh is going to reap the benefits.

The only part I dont like about the way Cal left is that he stole are recruits other than that im very happy what he did at Memphis and how he made us a power house. If Cal was still at Memphis we probably wouldnt get any of the recruits but maybe JJ from the Memphis Magic becaue Cal didnt recruit good localy but he recruited very good nationly anyway im very happy to have Pastner whos looking like the bestt young coach in college basketball and hopefully we can get the players from Memphis Magic.

Casey Prather is from my old high school and i have played with him before over the summer in some pick up games and the kid has MAD game!

me and the coach at north side know each other really well and i actually talked to him last week when we had a League game (the West Tennessee men's basketball league). The games are actually played at North Side. I wanted to see the old locker room. So he showed it to me and we talked about Casey. Actually Casey's locker is FULL of letters that he hasn't even openned. Tony (North Side's Head Coach) said that Tennessee hasn't shown any real love toward Casey and he really doesn't understand when Roy Williams has personally been to see him. Casey at one point was very interested in the vols but now he is not. Casey is smooth and very very smart! his bb IQ is off the charts. He would start from day 1 at Knoxville. I saw Brandon Wright play in high school and Casey as a junior last year had more tools than Brandon. Look for Prather to sign with north carolina as soon as the offer:
"North Carolina coach Roy Williams took in the Memphis Magic contest against the Nashville Celtics. A pair of assistants joined Williams and all were focused on Casey Prather who played despite battling the flu. His game was off with the illness but he still scored some buckets and the mechanics of his ability were obvious." at the Adidas Super64
Why in the WORLD did Tennessee not show him any love? and those words did not come from me people, They came directly from Casey...he was baffled but he blew it off and just continued to dominate!

John didn't recruit Memphis because he could get better players elswehere. If he were still there, they'd get all of the Magic players.

To me, Pastner is doing a solid job recruiting off of what Cal built. It remains to be seen whether he is a good coach. He has coached as many college games as Lane Kiffin.

I dont know about that alot of the high school coaches in Memphis didnt like him and for the past few years we were trying to get the top recruit from Memphis and didnt. We might of got JJ but I dont think we would get any of the other Memphis Magic players.

Prather cut his list to seven: Memphis, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Clemson.

Reportedly going to be in Knoxville this weekend for the UT Elite Camp.
