Casey Clausen

Chanting "Clausen sucks" when he was out there playing hurt... I'd say he could have had it better.

saying I could beat GA with one hand tied behind my back and losing by 5 touchdowns did not help his status with UT fans. Also, being close friends with Kelley Washington (I know some of you liked him) didn't help much either.

A lot of UT fans didn't like Casey's bravado on the field. The truth of the matter is that kid gave all he had every time out. One of my favorites.

However, beating UF for the first time in about 30 years in the Swamp I would think would outweigh either of those.

I thought clausen was a very solid quarterback for us. I had a lot of respect for him. He played his arse off for us.

There was a time when this was one of the most volatile topics on this board. For some reason some people just didn't like him. All he ever did was play hard and win big road games.

Yes, UT fans do/did not give Casey enough credit...He beat Florida at the Swamp twice, he beat Alabama at BDS twice..He ended Miami's home winning streak, gave us a 11, 10 and a 8 win season..Played hurt, I will never forget how hurt he was when we played South Carolina in 2002....Yet UT fans still didn't show him enough love IMO...That comment about beating UGA in 2002 if he would have played hurt is support wayyyy more than it should have.

He was not Peyton or Tee, but better than anything we've had since (We will see what Bray does with a full season under his belt)..Maybe even better than Andy Kelly as well.

Am I mistaken or didnt he win twice in the swamp? Along with some other good wins and pretty damn good stats. Pretty solid IMO.

On 3rd and long, he was better than any QB we've had not named Manning.

Every fan I talk to in person hates Casey for some reason. They are all insane, all he did was win.

With you zasnow. I think it was his freshman year when he lowered his head and took on a LB. I knew right then the kid was tough and would do well. I always liked him and his road record is something nobody can take away from him. He had a lot of heart.

Casey was a warrior. He definitely gave his all for UT. The fact that he was from California, i think made the fans not like him. All he did was win games. I wish he got to play 4 yrs w Meachem, Swain, BSmith, Hannon.

Casey is one of my all time favorite UT QBs.

Of the QBs I have see play I my 3 favorites are Shuler, Manning, and Casey. I am 35 so I don't date back much before Andy Kelly.
