Casey Clausen talks about the team/Florida game

“I think each year, Going into Year 5, the talent level is getting better,” Clausen said. “Is it where everybody would want it to be? Probably not. But that’s life in the SEC.

The talent level is not the problem, Casey, and hasn't been the problem for the last few years. That was the problem late in the Fulmer era and in the Dooley era, but not now.

It doesn't take a "rabid" UT fan to see UT's advantages. You just have to stop assuming UT isn't as good as UF then having to prove they are

Hopefully Dormady will be the next Iceman on the road. Clausen is one of our most underappreciated VFLs.

Dormady certainly appears to have the mental makeup to do that.

And yes...Casey Clausen is probably one of the most underappreciated Vols ever. He took a lot of heat when he was at Tennessee. 14-1 road record.

I think that's because he wasn't a Josh Dobbs/PM, endearing to the media and fans, type. He was more aloof.

I like what I have seen out of QD so far. Looks like he has a good command of the offense.

He was aloof, but people usually overlook that if you win enough. I think people were frustrated with his Tennessee career because 1) the 2001 SECCG loss and 2) he was the QB/leader on a badly underachieving 2002 team. There were also a couple of really embarrassing Peach Bowl losses. That 14-1 road record still is very impressive though.

I think our fanbase gave him too much crap when he was here, especially when you consider it in light of some of the seasons we've had after he left. Josh Dobbs is thought of as some kind of a demigod by a lot of our fans, and he had a nice career at Tennessee, but he didn't win as many big games as Clausen did.

If anything, I say Dobbs is overrated and Clausen was underrated.

Dormady is a really calm and collected guy. I don't see him as a twitchy, nervous type. Even in that GT game with the world against him, he just kinda trotted out there and played. Even after missing passes, he didn't get torn up over it. He just came back and corrected himself.

When Things don't go his way, it doesn't seem to get to him. Even sitting on the bench for 2 years, meh, he just sees it as paying his dues. Lolol.

That's a priceless trait to have as a QB. Patience and steady nerves

If he goes down to the swamp tomorrow and rolls Florida, I might start calling him cool-hand-Quinten.

I think we do have a problem with actual playing experience. None of our front four have played very much except Vickers. Same at linebacker except Jumper. I know a lot of the guys should be better than they are so I'm blaming some of the Assistants up to them to get these guys SEC level. If they have the talent up to the coaches to get them there.

We are more talented than Florida. Just look at recruiting the last few years.

Yes but recruiting is just the means to an end... If you just evaluate the respective recruiting classes, Georgia Tech had no business even giving us a remotely close game.

You have to be able to coach too and PJ is a good coach. That is why it was a close game.

I was in the swamp in 2001. He was the ice man and never got swamp ass. Not to mention that Travis pounded the rock for 240 yards. It was a beautiful day.
