Carolina Panthers

if I'm right, making the pro bowl would put him in a class of Dan marino and Vince young as QBs who made/played the pro bowl their rookie seasons

I believe that's correct. It's amazing to witness the spark Cam has given the fanbase. We've needed one over the last few years...

This is the official new Panthers logo. I like the look, myself....

As for the Pro Bowl...I realize it was just that, and not an important game, but Cam's play really bugged me. I mean, he wasn't even close on some of those throws.
Also, why did the defensive line seem to play a lot harder when he was in? It was a 7 on 7 game until Cam was the QB. Then, they seemed to want to hurt him.

He wasn't playing seriously and didn't focus on his throws. I'm not too worried about it, but he definitely still needs to continue working on his mechanics. He doesn't set his feet and it results in overthrows and inaccurate throws...

I think I'm going to be giving up Volnation for Lent, so here's my Fat Tuesday Panthers Draft thoughts.

If we actually do pick at 8 or 9, without trading up or down, please please please do not take one of these DT or CB prospects. Brockers and Still just don't seem to be can't-miss to ten guys. Same goes for Kirkpatrick or the CB from Nebraska.
If we pick at 8 or 9, I'm really hoping we go with Riley Reiff. I'm convinced that to get an outstanding OT, you have to get him in the top half of the first round in the draft.
Otah is a glass doll, and Gross isn't getting younger. Byron Bell...bless his heart...just isn't an adequate substitute for what Jeff Otah could be.
If we are going to trade up, I hope it's for Claiborne. If we do trade down, I hope it's for Janoris Jenkins...late in the first.
I realize the needs, but with this list of prospects, and where we're picking, it's Reiff or bust for the Panthers in the first round.

I don't see them trading Stewart so this move is a head scratcher. It is good because there's almost a guarantee that one of the two are going to get hurt this year based on previous history.

Btw I LOVE the signing of the safety Nakamura from the Ravens. Love, love, love it.

Jason La Canfora is speculating that the Panthers might run plays involving Cam, Stewart, D Will and Tolbert all on the field at the same time. My God....

Well Tolbert is going to serve as a fullback for the time being. I'd imagine if that formation was going to happen it would involve Williams split out wide, which I think he has done a time or two before.

It makes sense since our receivers outside of 89 aren't exactly awe inspiring.

Yep, but I do like what I saw with LaFell last season. He showed some flashes that he has what it takes, now it's about developing some consistency because if he could become a legitimate number two guy, the offense would be ridiculously good. It's just the lousy defense that needs some help...
