Carolina Panthers

nope, and as i was telling everyone i spoke to last week about the 'skins, we were the worst 3-1 team at that point. one of the worst 3-2 at this point. 1-5 and forecasting being 9-7, tho? just being realistic...

I'm a Panther fan. All I have are false hopes and over-optimism. :)

One of my favorite matchups in the league will happen today. Smitty vs. DeAngelo Hall.

Good win today. MVPs were Cam, Smitty and Chris Gamble. However, this defense is going to cause us to be in position to make a top 5 pick. No discipline and no push in the interior of the line. That has to improve...

Just looking ahead....it's not out of the realm of possibility that Carolina could wind up 9-7. That would include 2 wins over the Bucs and a home win over the Falcons. They could be 8-7 heading into the last game at New Orleans, a game that would probably be meaningless for the Saints. 9-7 gets a wild card most seasons. The two games against the Bucs, then the matchup with the Falcons, are the "must wins" above the others.

One down......Seven to go. :loco:

First chance to see Newton in NFL (I live in Salt Lake's market so they were happy to show John Beck's first start since 2007) and he's proving me right. Still can't understand all the doubt haters felt about him. 33 points on the the #3 defense says enough about him, I think.

That one deep ball to Smith was so money.

Absolutely and it helps that Smitty is playing like a man possessed out there this year. I hope he can continue this level of play for just a few more seasons so we can get some more pieces on this team and bolster the defense. After that, watch out...

Defense once again caused us to lose the game. Help the rookie QB out some and get a stop when it's needed.....

3rd and McDermott is far more dangerous than anything John Chavis has ever seen. Cam seems to lose steam in the 2nd half a lot. We should have blown this team out. Shame on Smitty for that hold and I don't even want to talk about the kicker with the huge guaranteed contract.

That is true, but I don't expect too much out of the defense this year given the injuries and the terrible numbers against the run. I'd love to see the Panthers win now, but this team is a few defensive players away from being a contender. It seems like every team I follow is always looking forward to next year. Still, that game could have easily been won if not for the holding call or the missed field goal at the end. The worst thing that could happen is for them to become demoralized from so many close calls, but I don't think Rivera will let that happen.

1. Phantom hold call on Smith.

2. Defense played surprisingly well, well enough to win at least. I would've put AP down for 200 yards rushing before the game without blinking.

3. Easily winnable game that they let get away. Cam's fumbles were very costly, lead to two easy scores for the Vikes.

I definitely saw the Smith hold. I think Naane's earlier in the game was much more of a mystery.
I really wanted to win that one, but I care more about beating the Tits. I'd love to get two out of our next three. If we plan on winning any respectable number of games this year, we'll have to do that.

The bye week has come at a perfect time, between the Vols and the Panthers, I'm not sure how much more I can take....

I still believe that the Panthers could slip into the playoffs. But even if they did do that, I don't expect they would advance beyond the Wild Card round, so in the long run they'll be better off not making the playoffs. They need another draft of high picks to fix the D.

Not if they keep finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Yep. There's no way this team makes the playoffs with our pathetic excuse for a defense (although missing a few starters) and horrendous special teams. These have to be addressed in the draft and FA next year or we aren't going to see any improvement at all....

Read somewhere the other day that the Panthers defense is 29th in the league and the special teams are 31st in the league.

I can't believe how bad both have been this year. Hurney better draft a defensive player in the first four rounds because I heard a quote by him the other day that he doesn't like signing free agents, or something to that effect (which is a stupid philosophy, but I digress).

Unfortunately, there isn't a DT coming up in next year's draft worthy of a top 20 pick. Morris Claiborn could help this team, but I plan on seeing us win enough games to where he won't be an option for us.
We will win four more games...bet on it.
Tits, Colts, Bucs (once), and one game between Saints/Falcons.
