Carolina Panthers

23-20 Saints. Today would be a nice day to make a statement. The Panthers aren't that far away from being a pretty good team. I still don't understand calling timeout with 2 seconds left in the 1st half just to allow the Saints to kick a field goal that they may not have gotten off in the first place. That could be a big three points. Cam going in like that resembled pushing a parked car.

Alright guys, I went to the game today and was having a great time until our defense decided to hand the Saints the ballgame. A few thoughts....

Cam is massive looking out there on the field, even amongst NFL guys. He had a few bad throws here and there today but overall, he looked very good, he analyzed the defense and made his reads, but tried to force it a little too much. That will improve. Smitty looked great out there for a while, but seemed to drop off as the game went on, a sign his age is catching up to him a wee bit, I think. We've got to pick up a legitimate #2 wide receiver, either with Gettis coming back or in FA or the draft.

Running game was VERY good today. We've got to keep running the rock well to give our awful D a rest and take some pressure off of Cam.

Defense was awful today. Very little overall pressure on the Brees, we never adjusted to cover Graham and NO was gashing us on the ground. We've got to bring in a fat guy and some CB help this offseason. Just an absolute must (having our all pro LB and and Thomas Davis back would be nice too :) )

Coaching was a little disappointing today with the timeout right before half and such, but this guy is a rookie head coach and I don't think he'll make bad decisions that often as time goes on.

I know I keep sounding like a broken record, but this team's future is extremely bright and #1 is one heck of a QB and a future superstar....

I understand the timeout, since we couldn't get our guys off the field quick enough. What I dont understand is why we were changing personnel to begin with.
Drew Brees is stupid good. Seemed like we had to play zone too much because of matchups. I hate losing at home to a division team. Falcons are going down!

Yep and p.s., Saints fans are the biggest bunch of d**ks in the entire division....

Here here!

With any semblance of defense, they would be 3-2 or 4-1. Playoffs are still a possibility.

Second best team in NFC South.

The Falcons are definitely beatable. Their pass defense is pretty bad. I'm looking for Cam to tear them up. This has the feeling of a game that could possibly be a blowout but will probably be close just because of inexperience on the coaching staff and on the field. Or last year's Falcons could show up... Either way, they are no pushover, so the Panthers better be ready to play.

Our defense is the absolute worst in the league. Giving up 31 pts to a struggling offense without Julio Jones. Extremely discouraging...

....how is not having Julio jones supposed to be a big enough deal to cripple that offense? he's a rookie, #2 WR

He's the Falcons deep threat. All we had to do today to stop the run and we would have limited their scoring immensely.

They still have roddy white (who's their main receiver threat), Michael turner, Tony gonzalez, and a pretty good QB in Matt Ryan

I think you're overdoing it just a bit believing that no Julio jones just makes that makes it so easy to shut down that offense

I don't think you've watched any of their games this year, while that all sounds good on paper, Roddy White has been subpar this year and so has Matt Ryan and neither had a good game today.

The key to their offense is Turner and if you contain him, you have a great shot at winning, which we did not remotely do...

I do have to admit I've only seen some; unlock college games I'm bound by NFL regional policy as to which games I'm actually show

I just think completely shutting down the falcons on that side of the ball, especially for a team like the panthers as they currently are, is or was going to be just all that simple

Really excited for four of the next five games...
Skins (should win)
Vikes (should win, though I'm glad I've got AP in fantasy for that week)
Tits (could win)
@Lions (at least they don't have an elite RB)
@Colts (should win)

Just looking ahead....it's not out of the realm of possibility that Carolina could wind up 9-7. That would include 2 wins over the Bucs and a home win over the Falcons. They could be 8-7 heading into the last game at New Orleans, a game that would probably be meaningless for the Saints. 9-7 gets a wild card most seasons. The two games against the Bucs, then the matchup with the Falcons, are the "must wins" above the others.

I wish I could be this optimistic. I just don't think our defense is going to give Cam a break at all and he needs it, even though he's played lights out so far. We have the worst defense in the NFL and I just don't see our offense being able to keep up with the scoring we are going to allow. Defense needs to be the first 3 picks in the draft and Hurney needs to bring some vet FAs in, or else it will be just as bad next year...

this is funny

While I also believe it's too optimistic, your team isn't exactly great or anything...

nope, and as i was telling everyone i spoke to last week about the 'skins, we were the worst 3-1 team at that point. one of the worst 3-2 at this point. 1-5 and forecasting being 9-7, tho? just being realistic...

I don't expect Carolina to wind up 9-7, our even 8-8. The only near certain loss remaining on their schedule is Detroit. I don't include the Saints because they'll most likely have nothing to play for in Week 17. All the other games are probably 3-5 point spreads. Toss ups.

Bottom line.......it won't happen.

(Just remember I was right, if it does happen.) :)
