This was from Monday's practice.
After this morning's (Tuesday) practice, Rivera was asked to give his opinion on Newton. He simply said, "Wow!"
My favorite part of the video is when Rivera goes nuts on Everette Brown. I never saw that much emotion come from John Fox.
Still hoping we pick up Carlos Rogers, but either way, I think he'll get a lot out of this defense.

With good health and decent QB play, this has the makings of a playoff contender.

Good, not great. I'm okay with this performance after a week of camp.

My early prediction on this team is that Terrell McClain will be earn a slot on the pro bowl as early as next season.
Our new defense is like a video game.


Edit: F bomb! Ron Edwards needs surgery on his tricep. He was supposed to be a solid NT, and start from day one.

I wonder who is #2 now as a receiver, Naane, or LaFell. LaFell has been sucking it up in practice lately, apparently.
I'd like to see them go after somebody like Lee Evans.
Losing Ron Edwards hurts a lot!

Good stuff all around. 3 offensive points allowed feels real good. Last year's team may have won a few more with a healthy D.

I loved the defensive philosophy here. We are going to be solid on D this year. I really think a lot of Rivera, as a defensive coach, at least.
As for Cam, I really liked three things about his game.
#1 - his long pass to Olsen
#2 - the way he smiled and tried to keep LaFell from getting down on himself (though he should have) after that drop that could have been a TD.
#3 - the block he threw on the Clowney play. I'd like to see Pickles throw a block like that.

Absolutely awful first half. D looks miserable. There's no way Munnerlyn should even sniff the 2nd CB spot. He's too small for it. Also, I know the D line is missing Johnson and Hardy, but the DTs are looking horrible and making Chad Henne look like a great QB.

Hope this isn't a trend, otherwise, we're in for a very long season...

Same old story, Offense misses Smith, Defense misses Beason + Gamble.

Also, where's the run game? Did DeAngelo touch the ball more than thrice?

I hope they can bring in a veteran DT that can anchor the line, and/or push the pocket on passing downs. Losing Edwards was a blow. Big John Henderson doesn't have a whole lot left in the tank, but maybe he could be a situational player.

Add another injury to the team also, TE Gary Barnidge has a broken ankle. Team is pretty set at TE, so not a major loss from a personnel/production standpoint, but still another damper on the season. Hopefully this rash of injuries is over.

I hate to lose Barney, but he was unlikely to make the roster anyway. We have three other TEs on multi-year deals, so he was just gonna be the odd man out.
Nick Hayden is just awful. Losing Edwards will end up hurting like when we lost Kemo in the preseason a few years ago.
Would be nice to see some other receiver try to step up and win that #2 job sometime.

Agree, The Panthers will need someone to step up in the middle of the D line. DeAngelo Williams posted to the fans to remember that this game will not be an indication of the 2011 Panthers that they are working with a very skin and bones playbook at the moment.

I think that is important to remember that this team is relatively young and working with a strike shortened preseason. Things will get better as the season progresses, but I'm sure there will be alot of growing pains along the way.

Our D is looking a lot more pourous than I was hoping for. Afraid to be too negative though.

DT is certainly the biggest concern though. Maybe just undermanned. Ced is busting us up in the middle.

Tonight has been embarrassing. The Bungles are just awful, and they made our first team defense look like a high school team.
Everette Brown is a fantastic bust.

Also, Cam should get a tattoo tonight.

Although it's preseason, after being dominated by both the Dolphins and Bengals, I have serious concerns about us being the worst team in the league again this season...
