Carolina Panthers

I wasn't able to watch the game this week. I had to sit and watch the freaking espn gamecast update on each play for the whole game. That's a boring way to watch an entire football game, but I did it.
What can you tell us about the game? Minus all the turnovers, what was our biggest problem? Carolina message boards are just ripping anyone involved with the team. Very divided on Moore/Clausen. I told them that Clausens don't play well in the rain.

To me, one of the biggest problems was all of the dropped interceptions. Those cost us some pick sixes and some very good field position...

The Panthers released Louis Leonard last night and signed former Oakland Raiders center Chris Morris.

I truly don't understand the FO of the Panthers but at least they signed some depth for our horrible o-line.

Also, there are rumors flying about trading Steve Smith, which would be one of the dumbest moves in franchise history...

Such a sad time to be a fan of this organization right now....

The Steve Smith rumors are just that...rumors. However, I'm starting to believe some of the rumors about trading DeAngelo to Green Bay.
Darin Gantt said the Smitty rumors are not true at all and while he doesn't seem to fully believe the DeAngelo ones, he's a little more reserved to say for sure right now.

Tough loss yesterday and Smitty is out for a while with an ankle sprain. This year truly sucks.

On the bright side, Clausen is getting better and better and the running game actually resulted in a TD so hopefully we get a lot better from here.

Watched the game, very frustrating at times, but I was not as pissed as I was with the other games I've seen; NYG and TB.

Defense was frickin awesome.

Goodbye Dwayne Jarrett. As if your performance on Sunday wasn't enough of a reason to send you packing, this DWI will seal your fate.
At least we have Armanti Edwards to take the place of this guy who was a total swing and a miss.
Wait...nevermind.

I was making a joke about one swing and a miss taking the spot of another. Giving up a second for Armanti will end up being a bigger waste than actually picking Jarrett in the second round.
DJ is officially waived now, and we've signed David Clowney from the Jets. He's faster than DJ, and well, I think he's at least a little better.
Gettis will be the #1 option this weekend, though. Sounds weird, but I think he's pretty good. We'll have a rookie QB out there throwing to Gettis and LaFell (two more rookies). Get well soon, Smitty!

I know Gantt said the notion that Hurney and Fox have a pathetic draft track record on WRs is silly, but their whole plan on WR has always been awful, no matter what Gantt says. Otherwise we wouldn't have had to go back to the well on a past his prime Moose.

I mean besides getting lucky on Smith the Panthers have been pathetic with their WR. Otherwise we would've had one ok #2 to play besides Moose. It's just so frustrating because it's been obvious forever and yet it's never been properly addressed. And now it's going to be the final straw in Fox's career with the Panthers.

Absolutely.

Look at who've they've drafted all-time.

1995
Michael Senters
Walter Young

1996
Muhsin Muhammad
Donnell Baker

1997
Rae Carruth (puke)

1998
Donald Hayes
Jim Turner

2001
Steve Smith

2003
Walter Young

2004
Keary Colbert
Drew Carter

2007
Dwayne Jarrett
Ryne Robinson

2010
Brandon Lafell
Armati Edwards
David Gettis

This franchise has to work on its receiver evaluation because every one of these guys but Moose, Smitty and the Rookies are garbage....

For me, I would clean out the entire coaching staff and personell dept after this year.

Obviously Meeks has them playing well but I doubt the new HC would retain him.

Hey man, Keary Colbert's a star....

There were a couple of articles in the paper today on him...thought one little comment on his good numbers in his four years was humorous...

# of career touchdowns: 1
# of career dwi's: 2

ouch.

Yeah the guy was such a beast in college, yet such a freakin bust in the NFL. :cray:

I was wrong it was actually, literally, the entire Panthers organization taking a collective crap all over themselves.

I keep saying it, if this entire coaching and personnel staff isn't fired the moment week 17 is up then Big Cat is making a huge mistake that he will never live to see corrected.

(While I know Fox isn't coming back, I'm talking EVERYONE)

Absolutely. This team is the worst team in the league and it's not even close. What an embarrassment of an organization....

It is truly hard to be a Panthers/Vols fan right now. I don't know what they're going to do to get any better next year. I know he's green, but I really don't think Clausen is the guy for the job.
They're going to have to trade someone before the deadline. Obviously, we'd rather not, but I think there's no way around getting something out of someone like DeAngelo. I hope the FO learned something from the Peppers situation.
