Carolina Panthers

i still think it exposed their weaknesses. Their trip to DC against a fired up secondary is going to be a lot of fun to watch for this 'Skins fan.

yeah, they played probably the worst game they've played all year...........and still won. which should make all the cowboy haters, self included, feel just wonderful.

You mean we actually view something the same!? :eek:hmy:

Eh, I thought there was another game that they struggled against earlier this year that they barely won as well??

The one time I'll root for the skins, but I don't think it will happen, skins haven't done anything more than just being an average team.

Had the late great Sean Taylor been healthy for the first game, TO would have actually been at least attempted to be covered.

Smoot, Springs, Landry and Co. will make sure they give a better showing in the home game. Joe Gibbs will also make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. It will be one heck of a game.

the cowboys are going to throttle the skins.

the skins played 'em tough 1st time around, and they played well for a half against NE, but ultimately lost big in the 2nd half. they also weren't outstanding for the whole game against the Packers.

the 'boys didn't look so hot against Buffalo either.

Not the answer I was looking for. :p Had to look it up, it was Buffalo that I was thinking about.

Ok them. Thanks.

no problem. Anytime I can help hijack a thread and talk about the NFC East and the Redskins is good in my book.

btw, vdub, you know are secretly a Skins fan. Everyone is. Even jakez. We're his third team.... he just hasn't come to terms with it.

You might be coming into this thread, but there isn't really anything to talk about pertaining to the panthers. And it has nothing to you trying to get Jake or myself to come to terms with liking the skins(which will NEVER happen), it has to do with you coming to terms with the panthers, afterall you are in the panthers thread. :)

Oh and guess what, the skins are 3rd with me too!!!!!! With you pestering me about it, it gives me reason to cheer against them, so they can be now added to the list right behind the cowboys and colts in third. :eek:lol:

Buffalo is irrelevant, thus i've forgotten about them completely.

i don't hate the skins, but i don't really like them either. i root for them against the cowboys, that's about it and my alleigance to them.

Vols
Steelers
Panthers

everyone else is a distant 4th.

I've never really pulled for any certain NFL team. I pulled for whoever my grandmother pulled for. She's the reason I love football now.

She loved the Giants and Mark Bavaro. She loved Jim McMahon and the Bears. She always pulled for the Steelers too. So that's really the only teams I paid attention too until I saw Barry Sanders.

Then the Titans came to Tennessee and they became the hometown team.

I'm not really a fan of any NFL team, I just like to watch football.

i don't think it's very hot. i'll be surprised if he's whacked at the end of the year.

I see.

Cowherd seemed to think otherwise...of course...Cowherd also likes to spout off about all kinds of things...

it's discussed here, but as of right now, i don't see any real teeth to it. conjecture and speculation. i think he gets a pass because of the injuries to JD, DM and SS thru out the year.

How much longer until they get a new MLB? I like Dan Morgan but damn.

Cowherd in on proclaiming that Fox seat is very hot...

What do you Panthers fan think?

I'm with Jake, I don't think he is going anywhere. I honestly have not heard anything to that extent around here in Charlotte. Have not heard panther fans wanting him gone either.

well that's the thing. they signed him to a big contract in one of the worst personnel decisions ever, and let Witherspoon go to the Rams. the issues about his health weren't and unknown at the time either.

the good news is Beason has been pretty stout this season and the talk is that they may just slide him over and see what happens with Morgan. but i don't see that situatino ending on a good note either way.

oh, there's fans calling for his head, you listen to the talk shows and they're out there, but they're not the majority, for sure. plus i think Jerry Richardson really llikes Hearny and Fox and is willing to give them both at least another year to see what they can do when the team is healthy. cause that's what this year is probably going to be pinned on in the end.......health.

Oh I know there are fans that want him gone, but I don't think the majority do, or have at least spoken about it. I don't mean to compare, but I am, I have not heard for Fox's head like I've heard for Fulmer in recent years, including this one.

The Witherspoon move was terrible.

How's Thomas Davis doing there?

He and Beason will only get better. I think they're going to be a ferocious tandem in the future.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to fire Fox after this year. I mean, no know could have possibly kept this team in contention after Jake went down.

equally terrible was the signing of David Carr to a 4 milliong dollar contract. i think that's the biggest gripe a lot of panther fans have is that they have put themselves in a bad situation with the salary cap and it's not like they've gotten significantly better with the moves they've made.

as for Davis, i think they've not been pleased with his development so far, they were probably hoping for him to be much more of a factor by now. but they also have moved him around.....Safety, LB, Safety, LB.......so it's not all on him.

yep, and when you consider how the year started off for Jake, who still leads the team in TD passes after only playing 3 games, that will ultimately be what makes the diff. in whether or not Fox and co. are retained, which I think they will.

the bigger question is Jeff Davidson...new OC, year 1, your starting qb goes down, and the offense went in to a shell, but to his credit it's not for lack of trying. they've called all kinds of plays out of many different formations and sets to try SOMETHING to get going....

if nothing else, they've at least learned that from a personnel standpoint, they aren't there offensively, even with Jake healthy. they still don't have a #2 WR. the off. line is not great and i don't think anyone is enamoured with our RB situation. we have two average RB's behind an average at best O line with no real passing game.

next year will be "the year" for this staff to put up or shut up imo.

but let's not forget one thing.......there's really no excuse to be this bad in the NFC. that's the one thing that's still hard for me to get my head around.
