Carolina Panthers

So I'm just looking around online and I find this surprising fact:

We are 0-3 at home this year.

More Surprising: 0-5 last five home games

Most Surprising: 49-50 all time at home

This is such a weird stat because we've had at least one year of being something like 8-0...although the 0-8 season in 2001 obviously negated that. But I guess we have been close to a .500 franchise overall. It's just weird because back in Ericsson's heyday, it was such a tough place to play.

Man I chose the wrong team to start liking in the pros. :eek:lol: But really those home stats are just horrible. Maybe I'll be the good luck charm in two of the games remaining at home this year. :)

it has almost been a full calendar year since we won a game at B of A stadium on Mint and Morehead.

Oct 31 Pat Yansinkas, of The Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett was talking to two reporters about his struggles this season. WR Steve Smith said to Jarrett "Instead of talking to the media, why don't you go watch some film?" Jarrett smiled and continued to talk, which prompted Smith to say in a strong tone, "Seriously."

Id like to see the video if there is one

The team has a lot going for it, just no QB and a weak secondary.

The veteran leadership is there on both sides of the ball- including Steve Smith and Kris Jenkins. But I've never seen such bad luck with quarterbacks. Hopefully Marshall can overtake Lucas as a starter, who has crumbled before our eyes. But I guess we'll just have to wait til next year.

that has been a large topic of discussion this morning on the talk shows. i for one like it. Smith has always been pretty much the vocal leader of this team, and i happen to think it's a good thing that a veteran will step up and tell a rookie that has done ZERO this year to get his crap together.

Jarrett has been a huge disappointment this season....2nd round pick and he's dressed for exacty 1 game so far this year. apparently he doesnt' have it between the ears to grasp an NFL playbook.....and this is the Panthers play book we're talking about, not the colts or something. Also not to mention that there's not exactly a plethora of WR's standing in his way to becoming the stand alone #2 guy with Steve Smith. Colbert and Carter have done nothing since they've been here, so the door was/is wide open for him.

somebody needs to step up and if he needs a nudge in the right direction........then nudge away.

USC Receiver Jinx? Mike Williams, Keary Colbert and now Jarrett?

Also, we let Key go for this guy to be as productive as me.
that was one of two bone head personnel moves they made. the first, and a far worse decision, was letting Witherspoon go in favor of signing Dan Morgan to the big money contract. Said Spoon couldn't start at MLB.....well, that's funny.....he's starting MLB for STL now......

Prior to that they let Deon Grant go to JAX and drafted Gamble. they kept Minter, and got Harris from CGO and what's his name from SEA........the Def. back feild is a complete mess imo. and save Beason in the LB corp, it's a mess too.

there's a lot more to my pessimism for the panthers right now than just on feild production......i just don't get the feeling that they have as much of their crap together as some think they do given some of these moves they've made the past few years.

As much as I agree with you about Smith stepping up, he has done diddly this year as well. I don't see him sticking around for much longer on a personal level since he doesn't have much to work with anymore.

cause i guess he's supposed to throw the ball to himself?

you can thank your baby face qb situation for that.

i'll just say it again, when Jake and Steve are together, one of them makes it to the pro bowl.

Carr, Vinny........eh, not so much. and as much as i think Vinny had the respect of this team, and he did play well the game and a half he played, i remember very distintcly telling you that he wouldn't last the remaining 10 games.:salute:

Yes, he is supposed to play all positions, offense and defense. Gosh.

Carr isn't baby face, that would be Romo. Ew! Yes I know Carr and Vinny aren't helping out Smith, but you and I both know that he still is dropping balls regardless of good or bad throws, including when Jake was there earlier this season.

Oh and I never disagreed with you about Vinny being there or not being there. I don't know much about my Grandpa. :)

yeah, he's dropping both balls thrown to him a game.

so, what do we think about the Titans this weekend?

any shot?

actually, i think they do have a shot to win this game. we know we play better on the road, and TN plays a similar style of football as the Panthers.

i don't expect a lot of points by either team, another plus for the cats.

i think it solely depends on turnovers and whether or not we can get anything out of Carr this weekend. Smith has to be a factor and the defense needs to be steady.

is Young starting for the Titans or is it Collins?

it appears VY is starting. that presents a challenge with his legs. if he is 100% coming off the injury, could be interesting.

i won't be surprised though if the panthers come out and play well in this game.

I said it earlier to the titan talk smacker, I think it is an evenly matched team. I'm like you Jake, I think it will be a close game. In fact, this might be the great game to look forward to still having Kasay around in the 4th quarter. Kasay is a great kicker as we already know, but I think this game could come down to him.

I don't think VY is 100%, but either way the Panthers do have experience defending a mobile QB twice a year until 2007. Normally I would feel good about it with Pep and TD roaming sideline to sideline, but hopefully they can keep containment.

Also, the WR's of Tenn don't scare anyone, which is fortunate for our team. I think this is the team we can match up really well with on D.

However, with Carr back there, their D line will get pressure, and then of course a lot of sacks. Hopefully we can establish the run so Vandenbosch, Haynesworth et all won't be pinning their ears back the whole game.

i would agree with that.
