Last year we had a couple guys that were flat out FAST.
Josh Malone and Alvin Kamara

Who are the fastest corners and receivers we have on our team? I would think that Byrd might be one of the fastest. Shaq Wiggins and Martin at corner (buchannon, labruzza, Osborne)will be better at corner that what we saw last year. We are VERY deep at safety ( warrior, Kelly, Berry, Malik Gray, Abernathy)

When Vols defense is at its best we have burners at the corner and receiver positions. Who we got

Except Malone and Kamara aren't extremely fast. Malone is fast for his size, but he wasn't burning past many corners in the SEC.

And Kamara is just average(for a running back), if that, in regards to speed. Kamara is good because he's agile/ has really good change of direction, most RBs having to come to a near full stop to pull off a cut, he just keeps going at the same speed. But his 4.56 straight line speed scares no one.

Lol Malone is extremely fast. All you have to do is watch the slant he caught against UF last year to see how fast he is. 4.4 speed for a guy his size is elite.

Kamara had a quick first step and exceptional lateral quickness but in terms of pure speed we probably had 4-5 guys on the team who could run a faster 40.

I tell you who wasn't the fastest, slow ass 6 foot 10 Jalen Hurd. Friggin QUITTER! I swear to God every time I drink I hate him a little more. Have fun being a receiver on a .500 Big 12 team bub.

For a guy his size, yes.

4.4 is not elite overall. Good, not elite.

A 4.4 flat is basically elite speed in CFB. It's borderline elite in the NFL even. There are only maybe a dozen guys or so who break a 4.4 at the combine every year and a lot of those guys never even make it on the field in the NFL because that speed is all they've got

I'm not convinced if or if not you can coach speed. I am sure that you can coach "quick." Quick will make up for a lot of speed and is far more important on a football field than speed.

Put the car keys away.....and keep drinking. Hate on his dysfunctional family. Before they got into his head, he was a difference maker.

Imagine the difference he would've made sitting on the bench behind Kamara year before last. He could've really helped the team.

Malone was elite fast....ran a 4.40 flat at the combine. Go back and watch last season...Malone was behind DBs all year long. Recall also the Florida game when he caught the quick slant and ran untouched 40 or so yards for a td through a very good Gator secondary. The kid is fast, really fast regardless of how big he is or isn't.

Agree with Kamara. Is a 4.55 guy...good speed but not a blazer. More quick than straight out fast.

To answer the actual question: Byrd and Latrell Williams are two of the fastest guys on the team. Emmanuel Moseley is probably the fastest corner. As far as safety, it sure as hell isn't TK Jr. I'd have to guess it's either Warrior or Gray, but we haven't seen enough of them to know.

4.4 forty speed is elite comparatively for all of humanity. Lol
