All of this… and Florida never really stopped Miami running the ball. Miami got away from the run and gave Florida some life. The runs weren’t chunk plays, but Miami was sustaining long drives on the ground. Not everybody has Miami’s OL, but I would make Florida stop the run all day long.Florida’s defense is really good. Coming into the Miami game the defense only gave up 2 TDs in 3 games. One of LSU’s scores was a pick 6.
They just went into Baton Rouge and Miami and went toe to toe with two really good, top 5 ranked teams.
If their offense had any life, they’d have won at least one of them if not both. They have one of the better defenses in the SEC and one of the worst offenses. If Lagway ever comes around, look out. That game on 11/22 is going to be tough.
Florida was missing some DL and playing freshmen in the front 7. That might be part of the reason. Plus, if they were missing guys, depth becomes a problem and they wore down at the end.All of this… and Florida never really stopped Miami running the ball. I think Golesh should take the job if offered. There's zero chance Lane takes that job and Golesh would be foolish to.
That dickhead would instantly become Public Enemy #1 among UGA and Tennessee fans.I’m just thinking he wouldn’t want to take on that kind of pressure at his age. He seems pretty comfortable at Indiana and things have been going probably much better than expected with the Hoosiers. Then again, who knows? I could be wrong, he is in his mid 60’s, he could be planning on coaching quite a few more seasons. He is a very good coach.
Guaranteeing a college coach, one of the most difficult and demanding jobs in the country, tens of millions of dollars whether he succeeds or fails never ever made any sense to me. Coaching is a 24/7 365 job. You are incentivizing these coaches to fail. I'm not saying every coach on a guaranteed contract is purposefully trying to lose, but have you seen the way Billy Napier coaches in the last 2 minutes of halves? Convince me that he's trying to win. I doubt anyone can. Kalen Doeboer's staff checks out at 5 PM every day I've read. Brian Kelly is really bad at pretending to care when LSU loses games but he hasn't convinced me.The best job in the world is a horrible coach of college football. Multiple 10s of millions to walk away from a program.
The rewards of a school having a great football program are so big, and the numbers of people who are capable of doing it so small, that coaches have all the leverage in those negotiations. It's also a profession where in any given year like a quarter to a third of the coaches in a conference get fired, so they want guaranteed money. You've also got a lot of pointy-headed college administrators and ADs negotiating against agents who are sharks who do this for a living.Guaranteeing a college coach, one of the most difficult and demanding jobs in the country, tens of millions of dollars whether he succeeds or fails never ever made any sense to me. And with fewer coaches available every year, due to these contracts, coaches have even more leverage to negotiate big guarantees. You're right and it sucks because it's absolutely affecting the quality of the product. The rewards of a school having a great football program are so big, and the numbers of people who are capable of doing it so small, that coaches have all the leverage in those negotiations. Having said that, the number of coaches who have fully guaranteed deals or deals where 80-90% of the remaining salary is guaranteed is still surprising to me.
He definitely is a candidate because so far it's a down year for Heisman candidates, at least on top tier teams. Mendoza is the favorite at the moment since he leads the nation in TDs. Mateer is currently 2nd in Heisman odds. He certainly didn't look like a Heisman contender vs AU though. Take out the illegal TD and Auburn wins that game and Mateer has only 1 TD.No way Beck is a Heisman candidate
