Florida has proven it can recruit quality defensive talent with an offensive coach at the helm. They have the benefit of being the lone SEC program in Florida
They just need a better playcaller. Kiffin would be perfect. He could turn Florida around in one year.

But even if he doesn't want to leave I think Eli Drinkwitz would be a good option. Drink has proven he can effectively scheme a successful offense in the SEC with mediocre talent. Imagine if he gets the talent Florida has access to. He could turn them into a CFP contender quickly.

He really needs to be given the opportunity to get his own guys in there and really build the foundation of Florida football. In this day and age , that’s typically an 8-10 year build, and I think he’s earned that right .

It's a well known fact that it takes great coaches a few years to really get the results stabilized.

Alabama can't fire Deboer. He has a 70 million dollar buyout. The coaching landscape is far different today than it has been in the past because of all these guaranteed contracts.

It is a big buyout, but what are the terms of the buyout? They could pay that out over the course of 10, 15, 20 years. Buyouts are usually paid out over time. We did it with Fulmer, Dooley and Butch Jones. Granted those were smaller contracts and buyouts overtime, but there are probably several clauses in these contracts that protect the universities so that they can move on. I’m willing to bet Alabama isn’t gonna put up with losing in perpetuity and they were smart enough to at least have a buyout clause that paid out overtime so that they could bring in another coach if things didn’t go well. They might be a bunch of Bubbas down there, but I don’t think they’re entirely stupid.

Those installments are never longer than the length of the contract so you're still talking about paying him and his replacement over 10 million dollars each for 8 years! That's not something a school like Bama can do. There's not as much money for athletics there as most people might think. It doesn't make any financial sense to cut bait with Deboer any time soon.

I’m just thinking he wouldn’t want to take on that kind of pressure at his age. He seems pretty comfortable at Indiana and things have been going probably much better than expected with the Hoosiers. Then again, who knows? I could be wrong, he is in his mid 60’s, he could be planning on coaching quite a few more seasons. He is a very good coach.

Florida’s defense is really good. Coming into the Miami game the defense only gave up 2 TDs in 3 games. One of LSU’s scores was a pick 6.

They just went into Baton Rouge and Miami and went toe to toe with two really good, top 5 ranked teams.

If their offense had any life, they’d have won at least one of them if not both. They have one of the better defenses in the SEC and one of the worst offenses. If Lagway ever comes around, look out. That game on 11/22 is going to be tough.
