Candidates alot better than who is being talked about (and who we could get)

What if I told you there was a guy 500 miles north of Knoxville that is 332-24-3 (230-8-3 in-conference) as a head coach, is a nine-time Coach of the Year, is in the College Football Hall of Fame...and has 11 national championships along with 23 conference championships?

I would think that you are talking about the coach that came after the coach that took over when the fella I refer to left.

I'm talking about Larry Kehres, who built Mount Union into the greatest dynasty in the history of football.

Matt Campbell - current head coach at Iowa State and a hot candidate until he re-signed earlier today - played under him. And Jason Candle, current head coach at Toledo who I referred to earlier, did as well.

Why on earth would you want any of those listed maybe besides Clemson DC over Tee?

Clemsons Venables will walk in wearing a National Championship ring and get instant attention from top recruits.

He's been there and WON.

As long as he's given really good $$$$ to go hire top coaches/recruiters he just might be our best option at the moment.

VFL...GBO!!!

What if I told you that there's a guy sitting 530 miles northeast of Knoxville that is 229-72 as a head coach, is an eight-time Coach of the Year, is in the College Football Hall of Fame.....and has a BCS National Championship on his resume??

Jim Tressel...ahh, I'll pass. Like Pearl, good coach but cant keep himself from lying and dishonesty. Thats a sure sign of low integrity. Besides we tried orange pants so I'm not sure an orange sweater vest would work either.

The guys who are current head coaches have experience leading and running successful programs. Many of them have shown they can win games against superior talent. The two coordinators have a great long track record of major success with units they largely run on their own.

Tee has been a coordinator for what? A few years? Does he even call plays? How many conference championships have they won while he's been the coordinator?

The show cause is over as of December 2016. The man's a beast of a coach, and IIRC has beaten Nick Saban head to head a few times. And as for the sweater vest.....I'd be the first person in line to buy one.

Can’t believe Greg Shiano isn’t on anyone’s list. Surely If we don’t hire him another SEC or power 5 school. He’s probably the second best candidate behind Dan Mullen /S

Just load up as much game film as you can in the Titan supercomputer at ORNL and have the AI call plays. Keep a human or two around for practices and gameday HR. The results would be better than the last few years.

I kid, I kid...

I supported Jim Tressel before Jones was hired. I would support him now.

I also like Calhoun because he's been successful with what he's been given. And I lived in Colorado Springs for a year after coming home from Afghanistan, so I am a bit partial to the Air Force (and Army).
But it's his alma mater so i doubt he will leave.

Bomani Jones made a good point yesterday. I agree. He essentially said that we don't need a current hc, a coordinator would be great. His example was Oklahoma. With all their success, they've only hired 1 current hc, the rest have been coordinators.
