Great article by the TFP, which chronicles the hectic 9 months after Hart announced his retirement, from the eyes and mouth of David Blackburn. I don't want to paraphrase anything, because the article stands alone, and is a good read.

He's a person with a family like the rest of us, and human too, and the chain of events that followed Hart's retirement just ended up leading differently than I think he, and many Vol fans hoped. Life goes on.

Enjoy the read.

It's too bad the brain trust passed on him. If not Fulmer.

I think he was so done with all the noise and how it was affecting him by the time they hired Davenport that he wasn't as keen on the UT job anymore.

Thanks for posting that link OP.

That was a great read and some great insight into the man as a person and as a AD.

I think he would have been a good choice but we have our new AD now and we can only hope he does a excellent job for us.

why are we still going on about this

It made me feel better about not hiring him, I thought others on VN would benefit. It's a great article, and provides some insight to all of us yelling from behind our keyboards.

Also, it's off-season, so I guess you want to belabor the NFL draft a little bit more then?

I don't care.

Is that because they're not affiliated with UT in any way?

Because that's the same reason I don't care about Blackburn.

It's like the Sopranos. It's over. Get a new show.

Good for him. Sounds like he figured some stuff out. He might be ready for the big leagues.

"Hope" sounds like a plan.

Blackburn and Gruden attended UT. Gruden is married to a UT alum. Both were assistants under Johnny Majors. They're affiliated with UT, which is why people care about them. Tee Higgins notsomuch.

That article is one of the many reasons the T-FP has won multiple AP Awards, they tell the story within the story. Diligent journalism.

Good article. Still think we messed up this hire and that David should be in Knoxville, best candidate definitely didn't get the job. Oh well, wish him luck at Chatt and in future endeavors....sucks that that'll never include coming home to the Vols imho.

Because there are major porblems/concerns with the UT Administration that are effecting the football program and there is an evident lack of accountability.

Did the UT A force CBJ to not have a S&C or not obtain a QB coach last year, or to bring Bajakian and Jancek or to hire DeBord and Shoop (Scott, Hoke, Beard and the others) or was it pretty much BJ's responsibility?

It's time to focus on 2017, but I really don't see why you're putting the last 4 (and especially the 2016 season) seasons on the UT admin.

Maybe talking about Haslam poor hires? Started at the very top in Knoxville

We dodged a bullet not hiring him if he wasn't professional enough to do his job because he was worried about the next one. Bad admission on his part admitting being unprofessional.
