I mentioned the absence of Candace's husband Shelden Williams during her WNBA title run. I had a strong feeling that Candace marriage was on the rocks. I'm saddened to find out that I was right.

I had a sense about this also as I followed the two of them on both Instagram and Twitter and when she won the title there were no comments from him congratulating her on her success and I took that as a sign. I wish the two of them the best and glad that Candace was able to fight through everything that she has gone through this past season.

I am in no way gloating about this sad news.

I wish Candace well and hope for the best outcome with her family.

So, it turns out that Candace was going through extreme personal turmoil during the WNBA playoffs. We never know what struggles people are going through, and that's exactly what I was thinking back then when I was reading posts shellacking her for some of her bad games.

Bless her heart.

Not to put her on blast, but this year she was cut from the Olympic team, lost Pat Summitt, has gon through a separation/divorce, and was ridiculed by many fans all season for her up and down games, yet she has carried herself with immense grace, never said one negative word and managed to lead the Sparks to its first WNBA title in 14 years. What a remarkable woman--that is a LOT to endure and still come out on top.

I hope 2017 is a better year for her. All Tennessee fans should be exceptionally proud of how she has carried herself and represented their university.

Someone theorized this during my ranting and raving during the WNBA finals. I was way out of line. She's human, and deserved compassion, not scorn. My apologies for being an ass.

His loss. She's a beautiful woman. She want be single for long. As a man myself, there is no way I could ask a woman for spousal support and she's the mother of my child. What a looser. He's probably jealous that she is the super star and more popular. I can't believe he's asking for spousal support. Candace has had a very rough year, but she is still standing. Very proud of her, she could of folded. I apologize also because I was frustrated with her play sometime this season, but this woman has been through a lot this year and is still going strong. We get caught up as passionate fans, but we never know what could be going on in these young women personal lives.

He is very lame and shouldn't be asking for it as a man but he will probably be awarded it because her net-worth is more than his and he will try to say he gave up basketball and coaching opportunities for her to play while he support their daughter, I hope he doesn't win though

The spousal support request is just bizarre. Speculative, his 12 million must be gone with the wind. Bad gamblers can't even keep a piggy bank in the house. :jpshakehead:

How is his net worth more than hers? He's the one that made 12 million.

I had harsh words too but not like AMB and others. Just sayin'... But I had an inkling something just wasn't right with her. Now, we know.

Bless her heart and I am so happy she got thru her pain with a championship. It's only a game but the game probably helped her through some rough times. Well, that and the love for her daughter, too.

I remember that Ogwumike said after the finals how much Candace was going through, but I didn't realize that this was part of it.

I'll pray for all concerned.


on a lighter note, I hope that her daughter will go ahead and sign a letter of intent with the Lady VOLS

Could be a reason she didn't play in the Olympics. She didn't want to leave him home alone with the bank account. What a douche asking for support.....
