Candace Parker hurt badly

UT said freshman Angie Bjorklund may have suffered a broken nose and senior Alberta Auguste’s left shoulder injury is a re-occurrence of her strained biceps from last week.

Sheesh... I hope they all heal well and fast. I would send them all a card.

glad it isn't serious...how long are you typically out for a hyperextension???

It seems like a foregone conclusion (barring injury further injury, perhaps) that Candace is gone at the end of this year, no?

I was thinking that they played Ole Miss tonight....but you're right. It does sound like they got beat up tonight.
Starkville or Oxford, they better be glad we beat both of those teams cause payback is hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

im glad parkers ok well really need her down the stretch but goin back to the leaving early...i just dont see what the benefit in that is..yes shes proved all that she can but i just think that personally its a bad pr move to go to the wnba bc being honest no one really watches it at all....

in all though im glad parkers alright shes not only a fine basketball player but a great person as well

Not sure about that. I don't think there has been a Junior leave early in the women's game yet.

I think you're right, but most of the talking heads seem to think that she would be the #1 pick in the WNBA draft.

She'd make a lot more money during the European ball season than she would in the WNBA... and endorsements.... WNBA though.... the average player makes 35,000 ish.

yea i read in an article recently that the higher named players ie leslie, taurasi, etc. only make ab 90,000....to me i really dont c many benefits to leaving earlier....theres more of a market for wcbb than the wnba i mean just compare the number of tenn bball games to just the total number of wbna games

But remember she did redshirt so academically she's already in her 4th year and a close call with an injury like this might make her think about getting what money she can by leaving early

there's also the lure of being the first to make the early jump

As long as she can come back healthy by tourney time, and with her teammates playing without her, they should only get better in the meantime.

Sucks they have to play Rutgers without her though.

I think I've heard Candace is going to graduate at the end of this year, so if she's not planning on going to grad school, would she even be able to play next year? (Don't you have to be enrolled in a minimum amount of credits to be eligible to play?)

She is fine. Hyperextended her knee and will play against Rutgers more than likely.

And why would she be gone after this year? She is only a junior. Surely women arent gonna go pro early. That would be sign of the apocalypse.

Yeah they were talking about her leaving after last year. Im with you though CBC women and men should be made to stay all 4 years.

that's just ridiculous. She has the opportunity to make some good money while she can and always has the ability to come get her degree (if not getting it already). Fans need to quit being selfish

Screw that. This is women's hoops. Its not like she is gonna make 50 million. I'm not being selfish either. As long as Pat Summit is at UT I have no worries. Its about a Women's player leaving school early. That is ridiculous.

I hate UCONN but Diana Taurasi was a better college player than Parker has been. She had 3 titles and broke numerous records. Did she leave early???

It's a choice they have to make (like Manning also made). There is a very small window for athletes to make money playing. She just wants to start that and I don't see how we can blame her. No, she won't make $50 mil but could be in the comfortable 6 figures after endorsements. Do you really want her to give that up just to stay and play for free at UT?

She's on pace to complete her degree this year. What would be the incentive to come back to UT and play for free? Seems to me that, if she has the degree, it would be just plain stupid to pass up being the #1 pick in the WNBA draft.

And, don't forget, she's good looking for a women's basketball player...her endorsement money will outweigh her basketball money.

She needs to go pro after this year.
