In an article about new assistants who are tearing it up on the recruiting trail:

"Mike Canales and Brady Hoke, Tennessee

Canales brings a wealth of experience as quarterbacks coach for the Vols -- he was previously the interim head coach at North Texas after serving as offensive coordinator as well as assistant head coach at Utah State. Canales played a big part in landing ESPN 300 quarterback Adrian Martinez in the 2018 class. Hoke's tenure as head coach at Michigan and defensive coordinator at Oregon didn't pan out, but Hoke has always been an excellent recruiter. Now, as the defensive line coach for the Vols, Hoke can focus on the position group and recruiting, and he has already impressed recruits and their families. There are two four-star defensive line commits ranked in this 2018 class thanks to Hoke."

I like this kind of attention. I hope the momentum continues, especially up front. You can't compete in the SEC without talented lines, and our staff is doing a good job of addressing those positions.

Glad to see some recognition. Would not be surprised if Wells gets some attention down the road.

247 recently had Wells ranked the #5 recruiter nationally; he's at 8 right now.

I wonder if recruits see stuff like "he's a good recruiter" and have a mindset of not getting caught up? Much like a girl, receiving a ton of attention from guys, thinking (he's a player, not giving him a chance)

Last year was the year until we laid down a turd.

I think you've predicted failure since his hire. When have you given credence to any other prediction? Did you predict wins against Florida and Georgia? Asking for a friend. :)

Between Butch, Scott, Canales, and Hoke that's four guys on staff who have head coaching experience. That's pretty impressive.

It could also go the opposite way where they are more likely to listen because they want to see what he's got in store for them. If Hoke is truly a great recruiter then he will find a way to get them to listen.

Sure, no worries.

Does make you wonder...has any program ever had 5 current and former head coaches on the staff at once before?

What that really means is if CBJ gets ready to make a dumb call he'll have 5 guys screaming at him through his headset ... which is a good thing IMO.

I actually thought we would win 10 games last year with an outside shot at the playoffs.
